BRZ Navigation System

Does anyone have any info on this?

Who makes the headunit? Pioneer? Saw a video on that - but it was for Japan market... any info for US market?

I've heard it's a Fujitsu-10 headunit...

Does it have voice recognition, bluetooth, traffic data?

It's the exact same head unit in the 2012 Impreza / WRX. It's a Pioneer, I believe. It does have voice recognition, bluetooth...etc. Traffic data is subscription based. The nav manual is on Subaru's website. Check it out for the details.

http://www.subaru.com/owners/resource-center/owners-manuals/search.html

Now, somebody needs to figure out how to bypass it.

There's a troubleshooting tip for the Fujitsu-10 headunit, which I can't read to see if it's this head unit or not.

We've heard both pioneer and fujitsu 10, not sure which it is though.

Does this unit have computer nazi's built in too? Meaning, it won't let you access it's functions when the vehicle is moving? I really hate Nav units that do that, since it doesn't take into consideration that a passenger is operating it.

Yes it will do that + will block DVD\Video playback. But if shipped with Pioneer unit, there is a quick fix to that on e-bay, just 7 bucks. Works on Imprezas.

If you are Ok with wiring, then its just a matter of bypassing handbrake and sending right signal to the unit.

That really sucks. My current Nav in my car allows me to decide where and when it's safe to operate my Navi and I haven't run over a group of seniors yet.

I hope we get the Pioneer unit then, because I can't stand the fact that I'm restricted to use of something I paid good money for.

Yes, it has voice recognition, bluetooth, and traffic. I had a link to the manuals on Subarus website, but it appears to be broken now.

Luckily I downloaded them already. If I can figure out a way to post them as an attachment here I will.

Typically, just grounding the handbrake wire will make the unit think you are parked. Thats with the standard over-the-counter Pioneer units though, I dont know if they use the same method on the factory units.

It's the same with the factory units, it's just a little bit more work to get it grounded since it's not as easy to access as an aftermarket unit.

The manual says you can type while driving, the only thing that it says is locked is video playback. It's Fujitsu Ten, not Pioneer.

That really is friggin' stupid. In the Audi I get prompted with a "for your safety, do not operate while driving" and then you can operate it, or better yet your passenger can. If it's voice activated, you should be able to have some functionality while in motion, no?

Good point. If voice operation is part of the feature set, then use of the system on the move should be as well.
