Loud cold start and mpg drop since new

So.... I understand that the di system is very loud and all but my frs seriously sounds like a tractor when I start it up when cold... Pretty sure it's normal just want to confirm it. Also my average mpgs have been steadily falling from the first few days I owned it from 26.1 mpg avg to now three weeks later to 23.8 I haven't been driving the car as much now but I have a 10 mile drive to work each way and do a few short trips a week. I just find it odd that my mpgs are getting worse as I settle in... Not sure if this is an issue either... But to end on a true complaint.... Tail light condensation got me

Shorter trips and longer warm-up times will affect mileage, and so will winter gas. Tire pressure will drop some when it gets colder, as well. Lost of factors at work this time of year. I wouldn't sweat it too much, it will probably pick back up in the spring.

Edit: Re the sound...mine sounds like it's workin' for the first minute or so until the idle steps down a bit. Pretty much normal. It just sounds that way longer on a cold start.

I know the warm ups and such affect gas mileage but in all reality the trips are the same since I bought it.... Only temps have changed

It might have to do with the weather. I'm in California and even when I don't drive like a grandma I average from 28 mpg to 29mpg combined. 85% highway miles

Cold starts are louder till it drops the idle down, you can usually get it to drop down by slightly moving your car. LOL Bliping the throttle won't do it, but just engaging the clutch a little will.

Midwest refineries switched over to winter fuel formulation for the gas stations. The change effects MPG by 2-3 MPG. I have never gotten MPG that low, however...

Switch your gauge mode to view instant MPG and keep the car in 5 or 6 as much as possible and watch your right foot see how it affects your MPG. Make sure your tire pressure is 34-35 all around..
