So my '14 started having a rough idle a couple of weeks ago (which led me to this post). It bounces between 400-900 rpm at stops, and feels sluggish at times. It did not start doing it until about 4000 mi, and it has been completely random and sporadic since then.. At first I thought it was my AC bogging, or some bad gas, but no.

I called my dealer and they said a rough idle bulletin and new software was just posted for the '14 on 5/14/14, so I have an appointment to get a reflash. It has to do with the learning system of the ECU I believe, and is similar to the problem on the previous model years. You all might want to get a reflash.

Whats the calid on the ROM should be ZA1JB01C man or ZA1JBO1D auto for USA, if its B00 or A01 dealer should reflash to latest.

I had forgotten about this thread. I just passed 10,000 miles in mine, and the idle issue seems to have corrected itself over time. I notice it dips occasionally when the AC compressor cycles and every now and then when I turn on the lights, but the general roughness at idle is gone.

I guess my wait and see approach worked out.

I had a similar issue before I sold my BRZ. I frequented this thread often

haha this, same with the trans. Sometimes I get a bit of a grind going into third but when I'm shifting high RPM its smooth as can be.

As far as idle, the only time it is "rough" is with the AC on the idle fluctuates as the compressor kicks on and off

I've noticed that too. She gets grumpy if you don't stretch her legs.

There's a re-flash available in a TSB to fix that. It did a whole lot of good for me.
