We recommend a small mix of 100 octane with 91 in the tank to help bump the octane up a bit. If you get a bad batch of 91, this will help mitigate some of those issues.
not sure which track i was being told about. he goes to willow springs/button willow and fontana autoclub all the time though, so i'm assuming hes talking about one of those.

Well if i can buy 100 octane at any of those, then nevermind my question. I thought there was some cali law preventing street cars from buying 100 octane and up.

Unrelated to this convo, for this thread,

Been running the JRSC for almost 2k miles now. and i loveeee it. what i dont see mentioned here much is that it gives the exhaust a nicer/rumbly-er/throaty-er tone. at least i noticed it. i'm guessing it has to do with the valve timing changes

I've been told i can't buy 100 octane at a track, in cali at least.
We use at least a mix of 100 octane, but using pure 100 octane feels significantly better, AND the car runs cooler, so it's a win-win at the track.

Every CA track has 100/101 unleaded on-site. Autoclub will not allow you to pump leaded 110 into a street car, but there's nothing preventing you from pumping into a container, and dumping the container straight into your tank.

Or you can just contact Bill directly and get it all done right there. If you have the EcuTek, Bill will send you the Flex Fuel kit and the tune.

You will need your own ecutek license; the flashing process can be done by yourself if you follow the directions.

Other than common sense and decency. Leaded fuel is nasty, nasty stuff.

I thought I'd toss this data point up here given I had a lot of questions about it while it was being built.

My original engine died, broken end cap, while running laps at Cota.
It had 13K track miles on it and ran 4 months in the Texas heat with a Jackson Racing SC before blowing.

Engine version 2.0 has a Full Blown built short block (10:1), Full Blown stage 2 heads, Jackson Racking SC, and a Rev Works header.

Power feels much better but I'm still having issues with cooling on the track despite having a Koyo radiator, JR oil cooler, ceramic coating my header and over pipe, and adding a vented hood. Upgrading the fan shroud next.

Here's the power with 93 octane and VP MS 109 via a conservative track tune from JRTuned:

You could try replacing the 15 row in the kit with the 25 row. @CSG Mike has tested out my car with the 25 row at Buttonwillow: 198 F coolant and max 215'ish F oil @ 75-80 F ambient.

The downside to the 25 row is that it cools too well for the steet, especially in the winter. I have to block flow to it on the street to get oil to go above 160 F. It is worth it for me though as I have peace of mind at the track (I am there a lot). Stock radiator btw. Mike actually believes the stock radiator is more efficient at shedding heat than the Koyo.

Turbo'd at 280-300 whp.
