Premium for Premium

What premium over regular are you paying for premium fuel? In my little town the premium ranges from $0.46 to $0.60. This seems a bit much.

unfortunately that's normal now. Stations are doing everything they can to get regular fuel as cheap as possible, while refineries are doing the same, so everything else costs more.

Regular $3.73 - $4.00
Premium $4.00 to $5.00

When I bought the car premium was $6.00 or more.

Stop whining.

If you think thats bad. There have been stations I have stopped at here in northern Minnesota that are not even 93 but 91 and they were charging over $1 a gallon more for premium then regular.

Gotta pay to play my friend. The other option is buy the required hardware to run e85. Don't know how much you drive a year but my guess is the difference in savings in gas would take several years to break even.

If you're talking about 93 octane then it costs $2.70/gallon average around here in NC.

Sadly, I don't have the option of E85. Not one station in town carries it.

Usually around here it's 20-40 cents more from what I've seen.

On our cars, it's about 2 to 4 bucks more a tank than regular. Is that really too much? Think about it, most people here will spend 2 bucks more on a cup of Starbucks than say, McD's coffee everyday.

At least you guys probably get 93 octane up there. We're stuck with 91 here in Cali, and 87 out here is around $2.899 already.

Wait 40 cents? I feel like it's usually 10 cents more for 89, then another 10 cents more for 91. If the difference is bigger than that, I refuse to use that gas station.

Recently here in the SF Bay it's been around 2.8/gal for 87 at a cheaper station, and 3 for 91. As long as it's under 4, it's cheap in my book, but I still hunt for cheap gas to not reward the stations that try to gouge you.

This is what I do.

Less than 2 miles from my house is a station that charges 3.50. I've seen others charge almost 4 (not very common but I've seen a handful).

Travel 7 more miles to neighboring city and its 2.89! :o
