JDL UEL + Nameless FP/OP + Borla Catback

Took a video of cold start and revs, revs start around 1:00.

To be honest I'm a little dissapointed. In car, it sounds amazing. But from what I can tell from this video, it sounds tinny / raspy in the high RPMs from behind the car. A bit dissapointed. Was hoping it would be deeper sounding. :[ Waited 4.5 months for the JDL UEL header (installed the header / fp + op at the same time. Borla catback has been on for a long while)

keep mind that most cameras don't have microphones that can pick up the exhaust note exactly like it is when in person.

Yea I would suggest getting someone to drive your car so you can hear !

You might be more pleased with the result !

Both the camera and quality of the speakers you are playing it back on will affect how accurate the sound recreation is. If ur exhaust sounds deep in person make sure u have good bass reproduction when playing it back

You can always put on an Invidia N1 if you want real deep, loud, and drone. Sounds pretty incredible if you don't mind the drone\vibration a bit.

Does your over/front pipe have a resonator in it?

After personally watching way too many exhaust clips I have noticed that front pipes that have resonators do not have the tinny/raspy sound at higher rpm.

For whatever reason resonators in cat-back systems do not seem to eliminate that sound.

I have embedded two videos. The first video has no cat and no resonator in the front pipe (raspy) whereas the second video does (no rasp).

Video 1) JDL
UEL header
Overpipe
Front pipe (no cat, no resonator)
D2 cat-back exhaust (resonator, muffler)
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oG-VtqTrsU"]JDL Auto Design Header back full 2.5" exhaust startup - YouTube[/ame]

Video 2) JDL
UEL header
Overpipe
Front pipe (cat, resonator)
D2 cat-back exhaust (resonator, muffler)
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_EdwFKDJMI"]JDL Auto Design Header back full 2.5" exhaust startup - YouTube[/ame]

I know the last thing you need is to spend more money but it looks like the best solution.

Is your front pipe combo catted? If it's not there is your problem right there. If it is you need to look into adding a resonator. Exhaust sounds fine to be in the video but everyone's taste is different...

@EpicNameBro and @DM7 yes my front pipe is both catted and resonated. maybe its the borla catback and its muffler? *shrugs* maybe i should add another resonator? it is worth noting that the nameless fp/op use a "ball" type resonator now because of past fitment issues. dont know if this ball design is as effective

Well damn that makes it interesting. It very well could be either or in that case. Exhaust do vary greatly, but Nameless also has had documented issues with their FP/OP as well and I can say that from experience. If I didn't have so many things going on I would get rid of mine, but for now I just deal with it. I will more than likely go JDL UEL/OP and FP...
