"Clacking" noise left side cylinder head side.

I'm hoping this is just coming from one of the auxillary bits like the air con compress or the brake distribution box, but can anyone verify?

The video starts on the quiet side (UK drivers side) where the engine sounds fine, then moves to the side which has a metallic "clack" tappet like noise.

Also, as a bonus, here is the engine in thermal IR.

The complex device with all the hard tubing over the left front cylinders is the High Pressure Fuel Pump.
Yes. That's the cricket cage.

Would be inclined to agree, sounds like it is the high pressure fuel pump chirping away.

The high pressure fuel rail on the right (UK Drivers side) which that pump also feeds has a pressure sensor on it, if your pump is under delivering I would imagine you’ll see a code thrown from the ECU pretty quickly.

As said above the HP pump runs off a cam lobe and is located just under the three fuel hoses, if you can confirm that’s the exact location of the noise than it’s the source and I would not be inclined to be too worried about it in that case.

Just to be clear as "left and right" are a bit messed up with the video as I'm looking at it from the front

In the video the left side is the side with the dip stick and the right side is the side with the oil filter and oil filler cap.

The left side sounds like a nice click-ity-click of valves and injectors. The right side has a harsher "clack" noise that seems to be twice the valve frequency, but it could two valves clicking. Loudest right down between the air con pump and the oil filter.

The HP fuel pump is just behind the oil filter, you can see the top of it in the photo below, located just under the fuel lines. The standard black steel shield may block your view. I have removed it on my racecar.

Due to isolation, I suspect you are just hearing things that don't matter.

I'll assume it's the fuel pump, thanks. It's not really bothering me, just thought I'd check with you guys though.

My fuel pump made all kinds of noises. Don't worry about it
