Have you tested this in conjunction with any baffle? Can they coexist? One of the concerns i have is if the material with break down with time/heat cycles.

Will this material break down? No. It's the same family of plastic as what the OEM oil pickup is made from |

Assuming it is nylon, no worries there. You would basically have to burn it with a torch or hit it with something to get it to fail. Just don't do those two things and you will be fine.

Here's a little preview of what we're working on. We'll have some pans ready in a couple weeks. We've modified stock pans with a low profile bung to allow for cleaning of the pickup during oil changes. As you can see, it's accessible just by dropping the oil change cover. The pan is gold because it's coated in Cerakote Glacier, a ceramic coating that provides a thermal barrier. Included in the package is the baffle and a tool which will make clearing out the pickup a 1 minute job. More details to come soon.

Well that's interesting. Looking forward to hearing users' experience with it.
What is the benefit of the oil pan having a thermal barrier?

@Pat The idea behind the having the thermal barrier is to limit the heat transfer from the header to the oil pan to the oil via convection and radiation.

Second inspection of my oil pickup is done. 3400 miles on the oil (7200 on the engine), including 3 time trial track days, 3 autocross events, and a couple canyon runs. Only found a handful of tiny bits of RTV. I really had to look hard and poke around with the tool to find them (you can see one bit in the upper right, other bits were in upper left corner).
Last photo was my first inspection where I pulled out a lot more RTV chunks (at 3800 miles).

This is what happens when toyota dealerships use the wrong guy.
Sure, he turns big hours and then someone else has to fix his come-backs. |

This thread is pretty much all new factory assembled engines. Not dealer fixes.

While there may well be some relevance to the track driving the would stand up in court (though its debatable even then IMO and worth a challenge), for just driving it hard I do wonder if they have a leg to stand on when they are the ones that set the rev limit and control the load via the ECU. So long as you don't do a money shift (and have OEM spec parts and fluids) I cannot see how driving the car hard every day of the year (and sticking to a increased service schedule as per the manual) would be grounds for dismissing a warranty. |
