Yep, back in the day, one could stick a "blower" (supercharger) on an engine to increase power. A "street blower" was one that you just didn't put the hood back on the car (or cut a big hole in it) ......

Increasing the power of this machine is a slippery slope.

You may consider starting with a free-er flowing, drop in air filter and an aftermarket muffler. Now, those won't give you much "real" power ...... but your ear dyno will make you feel it is more powerful......

I knew exactly what he meant!

I am with Hum. Drive it a bit and don't be afraid of the high revs it takes to reach power. Having had many a "high power" (440 magnum had a whooping 300hp stock) car in the 70s and 80s it took a whole new mindset to realize that these new ones gain their horses through revs not pure cubic inch umph.

The SS (Super Senior) group is over 65.

The SSe group (Senior Senile) group is over 70.

The over 80 group shouldn't even be here ...... they should be on the Buick forum ......

See, @Tcoat should be given the honorary SSe badge for being senile at the SS level.

Since I'm apparently too young to know,
I seriously thought of this when I saw the title:

Reminds me of Richard Hammond explaining understeer & oversteer in Top Gear.
Quote:
Now, this is really quite simple, OK? Understeer works like this: [moving a model of a Ford Focus in a straight line] you drive down the road, turn the wheel, but the car goes straight on, crashes into a tree and you die. OVERsteer works like this: [moving a model of a BMW 3-series] you drive down the same bit of road, turn the wheel, but the back of the car comes round like this [showing how the car fishtails 180 degrees], and you go off the road, crash into a tree and you die. Now, oversteer is best, because you don't see the tree that kills you.

Gotta say Fred, I haven't heard that term in a looonnngggg time! Thanks for the memories.
@new2subaru,
What can I say. I'm old school. Between my 67 Chevelle SS and my 80 Trans Am, there very few real cars lol. When I moved out to Arizona last year and saw the BRZ / FR-S, I just had to have one. Turned in my 13 Corolla and have no intention of looking back lol.

Everyone says it's a slippery slope. It isn't. Coming from someone with conservative FI, no hideously expensive supporting mods, daily driven at a reasonable power level.

The blower I suspect you are looking for is the sprintex twin screw unit. Just suspicion from your posts.

Do it. You'll love it.

Oh and for those that say this engine doesn't like forced air... yes it does. It loves it just fine. The transmission? Maybe not so much, but it's fine in the 200's whp and low 300's under street conditions forever. That's where all the bolt-on canned-tune kits sit anyway without other major mods and tuning.

That all said, I'm just killing time with a cheap turbo until the engine swap is all lined up, so maybe I'm full of sh*T about the slippery slope issue. Whatever. Fire me.
