So... dealer had the alarm subcontractor pull the alarm. They used a butt connector to bridge the wire they cut and left the t-taps in... so not sure if thats much of an improvement but it seems to run fine.
Also, I installed the 86 nanny tonight. no trouble with install this time. Went in quickly and cleanly and seems to work. I will give it a test this weekend. Thanks again for all of your help.
