There have been reports of a 2.5L turbo sti version. Subaru already confirmed there will be a 2016 version. I was told by a insider over at Toyota who is involved in the development of the GT86 that a new 2017 version is coming with exterior changes but no power changes. Toyota and Subaru's partnership of this platform is coming to an end as Toyota will be working on another project with BMW. This could be Subaru straying away and doing their own sti beefed up version. If you remember there was a turbo'd twin being tested on the nuhrburgring. Look at all the rumors and it all somewhat comes together (except AWD because that's nonsense). Could be a 2.0T, 2.5NA, or 2.5T from the sti. Let's see!!!

This version is going to be a concept. Too big of wing for production in my opinion. But now a little part of me thinks that fat bulge could mean something.
Called my guy at Subaru today, he claimed there's no chance as if they produced a SC or turbo version they would also have to allow scion to use it as well. He said doing that would create too much competition for themselves with the cheaper scion version. He went on about how he doubts we will see an exterior body refresh. Maybe some cosmetic changes in the dash but not much more. Going more of the way of the new forrester and wrx infotainment kind of system. |

I highly doubt they'd raise displacement AND give a turbo. It'd be either 2.5 NA or 2.0T...

I'm not convinced it's a turbo model yet though. It IS however something..... with a sexy ass widebody and obvious weight reduction with the carbon fiber roof. It'll be interesting regardless of what it actually is.... |

Yeah that's sort of what my thought was. But just relaying his thoughts. Now I'm in a dilemma. I was going to buy in the next few weeks and keep my truck. But if this is an sti version the truck may have to go 😳 Why you gotta toy with me like this Subaru |

If STI I would expect red break calipers. Looks to be silver if they are even there
