I went with the thinner tubing because I have planned on running the support bracket. Also I just really enjoy working with the 065, if it cracks I can fix it. If it fails it's just an excuse to build another. The shape of these manifold is pretty unconventional being so long, so why not take a different approach.

And now that I think of it I've made EJ up pipes from 065 and never had an issue. If I could bump up the thickness a bit I would, maybe 081. But 065 material is the standard so lots of bends/shapes are available. I also considered using 316 stainless but I could find all the parts so I kept it 304.

Support bracket just about done, it would be sweet to have this milled from one piece of aluminum.

We could probably mill one out of a single piece of aluminum for you if you like. PM me if you are interested. Nice idea on the bracket!

Yup, I'm already planning my next manifold, twin scroll. Also talking to my bending guy about 321 stainless.

If this manifold cracks I look at it as a learning experience. If you never have failures your not pushing yourself enough.

Mocked up the intercooler piping today, I dont think I have seen anyone else do this routing.

Im doing a comparison experiment with this car, Stainless vs Aluminum intercooler piping. This is the stainless version. Pictured its the cool side piping with the 2.5 to 3" transition and a bead rolled on the end.

What exactly are you comparing? Power gain? What's your hypothesis, and why the comparison?

Keep up the wonderful fab work!

Mostly temperature, technically thats power but I don't think it will be an amazing difference. The idea is just to see if SS will help is isolate heat from the engine bay, since the upper pipe is so close to the turbo. So really the experiment is more to do with just that upper pipe. These pipes will be powder coated and the upper will get some heat foil. SS also is nice because it wont crush under quality clamps, crushing an AL pipe is very easy with a T-Bolt.
