There's an option to delete your post. Just click Edit then the delete button is somewhere in there. I'll delete this post sometime after you delete yours, hah.

If the engine can keep producing good torque beyond the stock redline, then the power will continue to climb. The powerband will be bigger, and you will have higher top speeds in each gear.

The 6400 torque peak is a little deceptive since the "peak" is a small one. The torque curve is pretty flat. With that said, we don't know if the torque will remain flat over 7000 just yet. The engine might need cams, port work, or at least VVTi mapping to still produce torque at those revs.

Nope, I like the linear power delivery of NA engine.

Stock car? I wonder if many of the problems noted with the WRX/STI are related to owners who mod their car and expect it to run just like stock without issues.

Now the question is: will you wait for turbo?

I would like to have more power that would be awesome, but I would rather have better fuel economy. If the turbo version has less MPG then for sure I'll be happy with my NA. What do you guys think?
Late to the game, but my answer is no. In purchasing the BRZ, I'm really trying to focus on the fundamentals of driving fast. If you're able to be quick in a car with adequate power, when the time comes to step up to the M3's of the world you'll be all the more ready. Not saying I'm getting an M3 or getting rid of the BRZ anytime in the near future, but I want to master it before going big on power.

I'm more interested in supercharging the car. I have owned a few high-output N/A engines as well as two turbo and two supercharged cars, and the S/C is my favorite; I love the linear power output and added torque the supercharger provides, and since maximum power is not my goal for this car, an extra 80-100hp with great response will fit the bill nicely!

This is another great option. Get the N/A version, and if the turbo model comes out a few years later, trade up!

It's actually at Stage 2. I'm not sure how well versed you are on Impreza's, but the stock tune on my year had a lot of ringland issues. It was better for the car to get out of the stock tune.

I put a lot of time and research into all the mods I put on my car. From reading NASIOC, I can tell you that some people care about reliability and some people don't.

I must admit, these guys are exactly why Subaru needs to build a turbo model if they expect to sell any in the states of Texas and Florida. There aren't any winding roads in those states; it's all about straight-line speed. I was talking about it on the MR2 boards and low and behold it was a guy from TX and a guy from FL whining about it's lack of power.

^ Geography plays a big role. I live in FL and hate the fact its so hard to find windy roads. I also couldn't go too low in HP either though. Having driven much faster sports cars for a long time now, it would be hard to go into something that slow. If I were driving a sedan or something like a Miata I'm sure I'd love the performance. I'm holding out for a turbo. Still love the BRZ, think it's a great car, I just need something with a little more power.
