The 6400 torque peak is a little deceptive since the "peak" is a small one. The torque curve is pretty flat. With that said, we don't know if the torque will remain flat over 7000 just yet. The engine might need cams, port work, or at least VVTi mapping to still produce torque at those revs. |

I'm more interested in supercharging the car. I have owned a few high-output N/A engines as well as two turbo and two supercharged cars, and the S/C is my favorite; I love the linear power output and added torque the supercharger provides, and since maximum power is not my goal for this car, an extra 80-100hp with great response will fit the bill nicely!
This is another great option. Get the N/A version, and if the turbo model comes out a few years later, trade up!

I put a lot of time and research into all the mods I put on my car. From reading NASIOC, I can tell you that some people care about reliability and some people don't. |

I must admit, these guys are exactly why Subaru needs to build a turbo model if they expect to sell any in the states of Texas and Florida. There aren't any winding roads in those states; it's all about straight-line speed. I was talking about it on the MR2 boards and low and behold it was a guy from TX and a guy from FL whining about it's lack of power.

^ Geography plays a big role. I live in FL and hate the fact its so hard to find windy roads. I also couldn't go too low in HP either though. Having driven much faster sports cars for a long time now, it would be hard to go into something that slow. If I were driving a sedan or something like a Miata I'm sure I'd love the performance. I'm holding out for a turbo. Still love the BRZ, think it's a great car, I just need something with a little more power.
