The BRZ will be way over 40 because of the wrx.

it cant be 30k? Too cheap

it cant be close 40k? to close to WRX

there is only 200 coming.

BRZ will hold its value 10X better than the 86 (yes I know its the same car but its a Subaru + Subaru drivetrain)

Hence why I think its a valid point to say be prepared to pay 50k +

if they are only bringing in 200 cars period, then yes it will be priced around $50k due to the cost involved for ADR approval is split amongst so little cars.

if 200 a year then they will have a long queue. they can surely sell more than 16 cars per month.... unless they priced it too high.

however i seem to recall they are trying to slot it under the WRX.

I don't think sales will be an issue. Even at 50k

Personally they would severally have to undercut the WRX to capture a large percentage of the "sports car" market.

Unless they have limited numbers and the enthusiast snap them up (which looks like they way its heading)

someone should set up a poll, BRZ or 86

I think the price will be higher than we expect as this car will be one of the first cars priced post Carbon Tax. Even though the car is produced overseas, how much will import tariffs increase to protect the local car industry. Also how much will Toyota/Subaru have to increase prices to maintain existing profit margins when everything from electricity to rubbish removal will increase.

IMO, whatever price you're thinking, add 10%.

From the Car Advice web site;

"It will be available in seven colours and Toyota Australia expects that the sale split to be 50:50 between the two models and transmission choices. 1500 units are predicted for 2012 (six month of retail at 250 units a month) with that target rising to 1800 units for 2013 and 1200 for 2014. We expect the Toyota 86 to launch in Australia on the 7-8th of June."
