There might be less drivetrain loss in 5th since the diff, wheels, and part of the transmission are moving more slowly.

Skip the rest of this post if you are tired of the old torque vs hp debate or hate math.

Torque for all intents and purposes is treated like a force and horsepower is a power. You can work back and forth from torque to horsepower at a specific RPM because RPM has both time and distance components needed to fill in the work=force*distance and power=work/time equations.

Wikipedia has a good explanation of where HP comes from both historically and mathematically, and where the hp=(tq*rpm)/5252 formula comes from. Anyone who really cares about what dyno graphs actually mean should probably read it carefully.

We can certainly work backwards by solving the equation for tq: (hp*5252)/rpm = tq

5252 = (33,000 ft·lbf/min)/(2π rad/rev)

Was the car in 5th? I think it was in 4th

In 4th, it was 169ps, in 5th it was 172ps. However this is not actually "drivetrain loss", it is simply the effects of inertia. The true mechanical efficiency of the transmission + diff is in the high 80s to 90%. Oh and you have to add back in about 1-2hp for rolling resistance.

IMO still not real info. Can't wait for official graph and performance times.

You don't know much about open deck Subaru motors...

I was angry about them veering so far from the concept but ok Im over it it looks good, but now the power is sub par. You guys will be getting smoked by Honda's from the 90's
Yeah, and we still get smoked by family-sized boats from the late 60's and early 70's. Your point? Not what the car was designed for.

Then don't buy it. The designers weren't trying to meet your expectations. Go cry elsewhere.

Ridiculously low CoG and RWD much? Does your beloved GTI have that?

A dyno is not for comparing cars to other cars, it's for comparing delta gains from modifications, timing retard from heat soak, etc. It's for tuning, that's it.

Somebody should tell Cosworth about open deck blocks. They can't withstand high power...

For those who complain about the power here is your answer: http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicles/future-cars/2013/genesis-coupe/specifications.aspx

I'm sure there is a forum for it.

About what I figured from this car. Sure, open-block isn't that bad as we know, but couple in that with the high cr, FI kits are going to be a nightmare to work out, unless you're ok with lower single digit lbs. I'm actually more curious to see the torque ratings, it's peak location, and how much of a plateau it has with it.

It is what it is. And it's what I expected it is. I'm still in the market for a nice looking, cheap, good sounding, good mpg, commuter car, which this can still be. But that's about all I'd expect to do with it. I wouldn't track this thing at all (my Evo's for that), maybe it'd be ok with some SCCA parking lot cone action, but that's about it's capability to me.

The car sounded good with even an HKS exhaust on it, so that's a good sign. If Blitz makes one it'd probably sound great.

If they do ever plan to release a FI model, they'll be doing some real work/R&D on that motor and kit to keep it reliable while putting out power.

And sorry to burst some bubbles of hope and dreams, but getting 200whp from your basic bolt-ons is not going to be that easy I'm expecting. Unless there's a lot of power to be had from a flash that's buried in there hidden, I doubt anyone would be seeing that.

People just have to wake up and realize what the car is. It's not a track hero, it's a good looking and won't bore you to sleep commuter car.
