OK, so there's a red manual limited (just what I want) with the auto-dim mirror with Homelink, the chrome fender trim, wheel locks, and a useless rear bumper applique that the dealer is offering me for $28,233--which is about $500 off MSRP going by subaru.com.

With tax and all of the fees, they're offering it for 30,015.60 out the door. I have a $4300 down payment, and they're offering $6000 for my Celica as a trade, which is slightly over KBB value. How much wiggle room do I have here? I'd like to finance $18,999.99 or less, but I think I can edge them lower. I'd like to get them down to $27,500 for the car and up to $6500 for my trade (which might be a long shot on my car). If they say yes, should I pull the trigger and join the club, or should I be thinking even lower?

I'm from Miami and I went to New Jersey to get one, they didn't have any where I lived. Got the white limited MT for about 27,500 before taxes. It was a fun road trip.

Went to the dealership a month ago to test drive. They had a Sterling Silver 6MT Limited rolling off the truck priced at MSRP (28,900) while we were there. The car's still sitting on the lot... hoping they'll do a little price adjustment if I take it off their hands

In SoCal they still seem to be holding out for $2000-$3000 over MSRP. I think I'm going to wait 5 more months for VIP status to kick in and by then most likely get a 2014.

I found a WRB limited at a dealer in MA for just under $27k. I opted for a clear-bra and some kind of Opticoat-equivalent that added another ~$1k, but I still feel pretty good about the price given that CO dealers are essentially asking $29-30k for the things and I gather it's even worse on the West coast.

I know of a local dealer that will sell below invoice, even got the quote for the one I'm ordering which is $750 below invoice. If you want their name feel free to PM me. I won't spam the boards with their name. But by GOD don't pay over MSRP for one. That's just silly.

Planet Subaru in Hanover, MA. Paid their full asking price-- I'm sure people will say I ~*should*~ have tried arguing them down, but tbh their people were really helpful and low-key and I have no problem supporting what appears to be a well-run place. I guess a good price on a car sans stupidly expensive, useless options and a no-bullshit sales approach could sell cars! Who'da thunk?

Agreed. I've bought five cars in my lifetime...seen all the scams/tricks/hard negotiation. If the dealer offers a fair price, treats me with respect and is well run, I'm game. It's that simple. I certainly found that at Patrick Subaru. The price quoted was for a car they had to locate in the northeast; but it was still under MSRP. In fact, the savings easily justified my plane ticket up to Boston and the drive back down to NC.

Plus your break-in period will be done so much quicker!
