tl;dr No it isn't, and that was never my argument. Might as well not read the rest of my post if that's all you wanted to hear.

Aha! You've made a tactical error!

My favorite Stratocaster is a Squier! And literally the only thing I don't like about it is the pickups and wiring, if I were to upgrade that to one of a higher quality Stratocaster I believe that Squier is of more value, enjoyment, and of higher quality than of the many 'Made in USA' Stratocasters that are floating around out there.

But, that scenario is unique in that the Squier in question came out of a Japanese factory many years ago and was built to an unusually high standard, there's a bit of market for them now.

Hmm kind of similar to how some car chassis were built exactly the same regardless of what engine was going into it further down the line...

I would never bill it as a 'real stratocaster' and that was never my contention, proposed hypothetical, or argument. My perspective is centered solely around a person enjoying a piece of equipment. There are many cases where I'd rather take a well built 'fake' over a POS 'real deal'.

All trucks are cars. Not all cars are trucks.

Honestly, I usually never get past your first two sentences. You just go on and on. If brevity is the soul of wit, you have no soul:

Still confusing the topic. The question at hand is "Is it still NAMED the same?". The question never was "is it as good, better, more fun, as much fun, etc"

You have been debating a different topic. Nowhere, ever, not even once, did I state that I thought any of the changes discussed were bad. In fact I have said several times throughout the thread that the enjoyment of the car, guitar, degree, etc is NOT what I was talking about. The thread is asking should it be CALLED what it was.

I think we are 100% in agreement on both aspects but you just took the debate to a different level.

LOL There are loads of cars with "truck" engines! I was being facetious.

Pretty sure that everybody is reading my stuff here with much more intensity and seriousness than it was written. I have had this debate with somebody or another pretty much once a year for the last 40 years and actually get great pleasure from it.

Yes. I masterdebate to this subject whenever I can. I should start the Frequently Analyzing Philosophy club where we can try to get a grip on a subject and then beat on it until we come to a resolution.

Yup I tried to change the subject 'cause it was boring, and for once you stayed on topic!

Ya but by trying to change the topic you were not addressing what I was saying just what you were saying and since what I was saying was different you were saying that I was saying things that I was not ever saying and also saying they were wrong even though I was saying the same thing as you on the subject that we were originally talking about.
Just saying!
