No, it stays in the cooler.

Generally speaking, people with oil coolers just leave the oil in the cooler when they do oil changes.

New videeeeeo!
@KillerBMotorsport - why the need for a prefilter? The shape and size of the prefilter seems to offer a smaller surface area through which oil gets pulled through which means higher relative surface for RTV blockage if there is loose RTV? I suspect the prefilter is the primary reason of why the modified oiling solution car has such a considerably lower pressure overall.

You can see the product here. https://www.killerbmotorsport.net/oi...-and-gr86.html While testing in our shop BRZ, we didn't experience any drop in oil pressure, however we were not pushing the car as hard as Brian. His data is welcome and valuable. |

Potential dry-sump alternative:
I'm going to send an oil sample to Blackstone after two track events at right-hand intensive circuits (NMMP Lightning, Thompson (CT) Speedway). If bearing or other wear metal content is high, likely gonna get 2qt Accusump. |

Basically it is a high pressure oil filed reservoir that is actuated when your oil pressure reads below a threshold. This will help prevent oil starvation or under-pressure catastrophes.

Still want data for the spirited canyon/mountain public road people....
A good data log test would be a run on the dragon.. I don't think the oil pressure drop would be near catastrophic levels if at all on public roads unless your being insanely reckless or even get near pulling high G like on the track without losing traction and hitting a guard rail. So I speculate track people/autocross people obviously need a solution. For the daily commuters/spirited public road people may need nothing and will hopefully satiate the toxic social media of "all brz and gr86 engines are time bombs."

Very helpful. Sounds like a possible solution before going full sump system. However, a possible issue here is too much oil being pressured into the oil pan.
I guess maybe, a 1qt option could be a good start? Worst case scenario, you have 1qt in the pan for a few moments. I don't know..

We also don't see those drops on anything short of a hot lap, which to me says that spirited public road driving isn't going to be a problem because that's pretty on-par with warm-up lap driving. Finally, at least one of the people doing the tests say that the only conditions they see the pressure drop dangerously is track driving. If they're lying about that, none of the rest of what they're saying is worth looking at and the new data you want would be suspect. |
