It’s still fun. Have you driven a PDK and downshifted, it’s fun even if it takes no skill at all other than hitting a paddle. Sounds great too.
Even the tip can be fun on a back twisty road. But once you go PDK, it would be tough to go back to a tip for spirited driving. |

Oh don't get me wrong guys, I'm a manual guy. The only way I would prefer a PDK is if I was getting paid for lap times, and I'm not that good. Way prefer the third pedal for fun. All 3 of My sports cars are MT.
My point was every time these stupid MT vs. AT threads come up, guys start talking like the AT in their $10k Subaru is the same as PDKs in super cars. They are not. |

It’s still meh. I didn’t get any more enjoyment from shifting a PDK equipped Cayman S then I did a slush box FRS.

Right. One is an automatic and the other is a stupidly expensive automatic. I'd much rather have a crash box with a real clutch for the lulz.

Modern porsches are mated to the Pdk first and foremost. The manuals are the same pdk tranny converted into manual thereafter.
People that don’t own porches won’t understand how awesome the pdk is. I’m on my 2nd and third Porsche and went with the Pdk 3/3 times. I still love Manual as much as the next guy and do have multiple deposits on a Manual Gr. The twins are imo built around the manual and is best showcased in Mt. The autos will work just fine for auto drivers but will bring the experience of the drive down by a notch or two. |

But you're right, he's not the "manual guy" you say you are. And nor do I think he's trying to claim that status. |

Mercedes-Benz R 63 AMG. 0-60 in 4.6seconds.
Anything else I could find was >7 seconds.

Really, which is faster AT vs MT?

Thanks. The minivan argument is so tired. I have yet to see an R Class IRL (let alone an AMG), so I’m not worried about getting chopped by one at a light at this point. Is it even a minivan? It’s a wagon as far as I’m concerned. |

Slow down with the humblebrag gate keeping bro. I’ve driven plenty of PDKs and other DCTs (BMW, VW). For a sports car none of them get close to a proper manual. If you like driving as a sensation, even the best DCT doesn’t come close to the twins’ manual. It’s not about speed. It’s about absolute control of every aspect of the shift. It’s about feeling the synchro spin up when you lean into a gate, then feel it slot in when it matches the layshaft speed. It’s about feeding the power to the wheels in a quick, but controlled and proportional fashion. Do it wrong and you bog down or spin a wheel too much. A paddle will never let you do that. Does the Gordon Murray T50 have a DCT? It’s literally the only car that’s so good they don’t even bother with a spec sheet. No it doesn’t. |

What they are saying is that it is a purpose built tranny and not an old Powerglide or the same as mom's base Corolla. It is quite suitable for their $27,000 Subaru. It is ironic that there are far fewer issues reported with the AT in these cars than the MTs. Hell, SOME people actually have a spare MT in their garage "just in case". These threads are stupid more due to the "MT is magical and if you don't drive one you are a moron" attitude that so many like to exhibit than the actual nature of either tranny.

A minivan will smoke many cars for about the first 50 feet. It has nothing to do with power nor 0 to 60 times. It is because they are geared so low to get the bulk moving that for initial take off they will indeed get a jump on you. After that initial boost of torque however they just lay down and die.
