Yeah there was more oncoming traffic on the way back, a bit sketchy at that one point with the huge pickup truck that was towing the boat. He didn't (or couldn't) get over anymore so I ended up having to put my right tires in the gravel on the edge of the road. And yeah like you said a few blind hairpins that I'm glad I took it easy around since on one there were three motorcycles about to take the turn coming from the other direction!

Funny you mentioned the birds, I don't know if you saw it or not but shortly after we left the junction, one flew right toward my open window, it totally looked like it was going to fly straight into my head, so much so that I put up my arm to block it as an involuntary reaction!

Haha I missed the bird but I did see the boat and your pass rear tire catching dirt - you did the right thing and gave them as much room as possible. I'm sure he couldn't make a wider turn than he did b/c of towing that boat and that narrow alley we caught him in. Of the 3 motorcyclists, the middle one was the newb hehe...he took the exit and entry far wider than the leader and the rear. Not to mentioned he dared not to make eye contact with me as the other two did, which included a nod and dueces. Been there done that, I know the anxiety he must be feeling being in the middle.

The weirdest thing I've seen is "farmer John" walking on Mines during one of my nighttime excursions. He was wasn't there on my way to the junction but he was there on my way back to Livermore. Had to use high beam just to make sure I was looking at something and he puts his arm across his face. His house must have been set back in the mountains b/c I don't recall one before I saw him and I was looking for one when I past him. Mind you, if I had seen a flashlight or something, I wouldn't still be spooked.

yeah so the events/stamps will keep going on until end of August. I am thinking that we will have an 86DRIVE "end of summer" party sometime in Sept. Maybe at like Buffalo Wild Wings or Hooters or something, we can maybe get a private room. Then we can screen some of the summer drive videos to reminisce all the fun we've had and then do a raffle drawing for prizes. We don't have a lot of stuff but we do have some cool items to give away. Each stamp = one raffle ticket so the more you have the better chances of winning. The only way you can get a stamp is to come out for a DRIVE (just meets don't count). You don't have to be present at the party to win (you'd just have to post up a pic of your card with the stamps on it) but it would be more fun if everyone was together for the drawing. If people are down for that, I will go and start a new thread with the details as we work it out. Throw out dates in Sept that you can or can't make it! I'm kinda thinking like a Fri night or Thurs night or something like that.

Sounds like a great idea P. About dates, my vote would be mid-Sept, just because I really want to make it

On the drives side of things, I've been itching for another drive and a change of scenery. Just a feeler, anybody up for a foot hills/tahoe/sierras drive? It would be a most/whole day thing for us bay area folks since it already takes about 1.5-2 hrs to get there. I'm thinking of hitting up the cencal and sac folks aswell, would definitely need some help from folks familiar with the roads.

By the way, just like at 86EXPO, those who make the long distance trek down to 86FEST from NorCal can also earn a "special" sticker. Just come find me at 86FEST this weekend and present your card.
