(OK, just read the Steam reviews, looks like the port sucks. Probably not worth the money).
My first M$ Windows was 2.03 (IBM PC-DOS 3.33) running on an AMD 286 @ 16Mhz with 1MB ram and a 21MB Seagate hard drive. Windows was garbage until 3.0. IBM OS/2 and Apple System 6 seemed light years ahead IIRC.

Have any of you ever ran Half-Life 1 or 2 under Steam using Win10? Does it even look and play okay?

I tried the new Thrustmaster joystick and WCS at the local store back in Christmas. I think it's even nicer than the old hard sprung Thrustmaster stuff but $600CAD ouch!

I suggest gaming on an OLED. The colors are so much richer. It kicks ass.

I'm afraid I go all the way back to before the IBM PC, and have used every version of MS and IBM DOS, OS2, Windows and the Mac OS.

Never tried Half-Life under Windows 10, but if it will run it shouldn't look any worse than it did when new.

I've got a stack of Seitek controllers and flight sim instruments waiting for me to do my simulator build. I really need to get around to that.,,

For Honor Players?

Anyone else on the closed beta this weekend for Ubisoft's "For Honor"?

Downloaded it last night and worked my way through the tutorials. Looks like it has a lot of potential. Impressive graphics (on PC at least) and has some serious fight mechanics, maybe a little to serious, with a lot of hand-to-hand weapon control.

Just looking to casually play some games, not looking to spend a whole bunch just in case I hate the whole PC gaming thing

Why a mini ITX motherboard in a midtower case? Is there not a good ATX board available?

I would dump the graphics card and get a 1050 or 1050ti. The Ti is 20 bucks more and has more VRAM and better performance.

Unless you had a Free sync monitor, I wouldn't keep the Radeon.

Other than that, it looks good. I would buy a Windows key off the reddit exchange to save a hundred bucks, and then use that money to buy a 128gb SSD.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if he's going to going the APU route going with the Radeon graphics would be beneficial for the whole system. I haven't looked much into APUs recently but I remember looking at parts to help a friend build one some time ago.

CORRECTION: That is just a CPU not an APU it's running the same socket but no graphics. The previous statement still holds true my bad

Also noticed you have a wireless adapter for your computer when it says your motherboard already has wifi capabilities.

APUs will accept Nvidia GPUs no problem. You just can't have more than one (I.e an SLI configuration). You're right though, there's definitely some throttling by the competitors when using the others components side by side. However this is more evident with higher end systems.

Right now Nvidia is running the game GPU wise with price per performance. I would recommend an Intel CPU, however they're fairly pricey compared to AMD chips w/ their perspective motherboards.

I've been flip flopping between two mobos, one has wifi, one doesn't, so that's why it's on there. The one without is about 50% of what the one with wifi costs.

Also, not entirely married to the idea of running AMD, and have been basing most of my hardware decisions off articles for "entry level rigs".

Realistically, I just want something for under $700CAD to play games for a few hours a week, and handle my browsing/netflix/youtube stuff.

I'm not even sure what I want to play, either. I'd like to get into LoL and also play DayZ, but I can see DayZ making me very upset.

I use AMD for my build and am plenty happy. I feel I haven't broken the bank my stuff is dated but does the job for me and my gaming. It being your first time trying pc gaming AMD will be the best way to not cause too much damage to your wallet. I have time to burn and can look into piecing a build as well and have you take a look at it. If you are wanting to play more MOBA type games you are going to need a good cpu. You are going to have to render movements for everyone thats playing.
