I still have the manual for my beloved 1970 Toyota Crown.

All the tools necessary to completely dismantle and reassemble the whole car was in a leather pouch neatly tucked behind the spare wheel.
In value for money, this is the best car I've ever owned.
*sigh*

Ah, those Datsun coupes were so cool! Old pal of mine had one of those.

I honestly think having learned to drive those old clunkers with saggy suspension, no electronics and direct steering (in my case; on iced, narrow and winding mountain roads) gave us a deep and intimate sense of the physics going on between the car and the road that kids today will never get.

I don't disapprove of better and safer cars on better and safer roads, I just have a vague feeling we've lost something along the road.

And I think what makes the GT86/FRS/BRZ so brilliant is that it manages to bring some of that magic back.

Perhaps OP could use the manual as TP. Assuming two dumps a day, he could be up to speed on the manual in about eight months.

Can send him a Canadian one and he could learn French at the same time!

The 240 is a direct spiritual ancestor of the FR-S. People who don't get that suck ass. Especially the whiners who don't have a fucking clue how improbable the FR-S/BRZ is.

Way old thread. THIS is how you resto a classic, classic car. I'd give all three of my left nuts for this.

FS: 1972 Datsun 240Z

I couldn't agree with you more.

It's sad but don't sweat the whiny little bitches. We have and know how to enjoy ours. I'm eternally thankful to the folks with the courage to push for this machine. It's visceral similarity to the original, real Z is uncanny. They nailed it!

It's no less than a miracle. The car sales taxes in Norway are brutal. Displacement and emissions taxes makes almost all fun cars out of reach for anyone except crime lords, business lawyers and old-money brats.
Then the GT86 comes along within the normal car price range, because of it's modest engine. I feel like I owe Tada-San a hug.
