So true! Even the prices for LSD is300 diffs are going up, now that people know that they are interchangable. I'm glad I got mine before just in time.

Carriers out of RWD IS250's are supposed to work as well, but I don't know the specifics about which ones are limited slip.

Oh, and if any of you guys are interested in buying my leftover parts, I've got the 3.9 ring and pinion for sale now, and my full stock carrier will be as well a few weeks down the road once I've verified my setup.

What kind of LSD is in the Lexus units though? I'd expect the diff in the 86 was specified to give the car some of it's driving characteristics.

I'm aware there could be differences in specs (bias ratio perhaps) but they should work the same internally. |

So since I've hit the 500 mile mark on my gears I've been able to play around a bit. The car is noticeably quicker to accelerate, full stop. I still haven't tried anything from a dig yet. MPG seems relatively unaffected (my commute is mostly city so it's crap anyway, like 25 tops). Probably the most useful thing for daily driving I've noticed thus far is on arterials (like 35-40 mph), a single downshift (as opposed to the balls-out two gear drop you get when you floor it in auto mode) actually gets you going, whereas before you really had to go whole hog with it.
I've yet to actually quantify any of the perceived improvements, but I received some excellent third party feedback. My girlfriend, who drives my car every once in a while (read: after the bars when I've had a few too many) had to drive it while we were helping a friend move. The first thing out of her mouth after she got back was this: "So I understand that gear thing you did on your car now."

I found a local shop with a dyno (did not ask what kind) and the guy appears to have a good reputation, especially with the S2000 crowd. We discussed options for waking the car up (I have an auto as well) and he stated categorically that if you don't go FI, this is the best other option for waking the car up, followed by a tune. His recommendation was "about 4.5" for street use.

I wish I can spare another diff with 4.9 and see the difference.

Did you sell the stock one already? Otherwise, put the 4.9 in there.

I dont do autocross. I am all about spirited driving. It feel more responsive specially in lower gears.
