You're confusing.

I was talking to the other poster about the incomes he was talking about, these "standard" incomes we read on the internet are averages and statistics.

Also this whole "I'm in the whole wrong line of work" ideal is extremely selfish, why not do something you love or adore? Greed is boring and once your dead it won't matter.

So you're saying if given the option of 2 jobs;

1. A job you love doing, but living in a shitty area with a shitty vehicle because you're getting paid next to nothing.

OR

2. A job you don't much care for, but it pays very good so you get to live in a nice house, with a couple of nice cars.

You're going to choose the first one?

As long as i'm happy everyday, I'd give up the nice car and material values.

The legal age to contract in Arizona is 18 so you may have earned money to cover the outstanding costs on the car, tax, gas but you wouldn't actually be the owner of the car and someone else's credit score "paid" for the car if you took a loan. It's easier to afford a car when mommy and daddy qualify for prime financing than if you're 25 and saddled with post-college debt or middle age paying for your bratty kid's college. *2 cents*

Meh, it's doable. When I was 16 I worked 50-60 hours a week for an inventory service; all graveyard or weekend...with shift-differential I'd make 15-20 bucks an hour. This was the mid-90s. Now, granted, I didn't spend it on a nice car (drove an 88 suburban that smelled like cat-piss, got an amazing 11 mpg, had 3 different colors of body panels, and had a sticky throttle body that could send me careening out of control occassionally), but I could have if I had different priorities.

What are the labor laws for minors there? I know for California when I looked a few years ago you couldn't work for more than 30 hours or something and you needed a workers permit. Completely understandable if it's under the table, wonder who gave you the job...

Same, in NH minors can work no more then 30 hours a week. An employer could get in a huge amount of trouble, even if it was something like a family business.
