I've actually seen it labeled as a Helles Bock a few places. I was surprised because the first time I tried it I didn't like it much, but now one of my favorite beers, Abita! Andygator, is a Helles Dopplebock, and I've tried a couple others in that style that I love. Anything Bock is quickly becoming my go-to, though craft beer is freaking expensive.

I also love stouts, especially Russian imperial stouts. Abita! also makes a delicious bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial that's black as can be.

Fresh hopslam is delicious.

My favorite IPA right now is probably Cigar City's white oak aged jai alai, but Hop Slam is a very very very close second.

Tonight I've started with the Rogue 7 hops IPA. It's pretty damn good. Not the best, but better than average IMO.

I'll admit I haven't tried it again since I started liking the style, so I can't say for sure that it's a matter of acquired taste. Dead guy did have a unique taste. The helles dopplebock I like is called Andygator. My sister gave me a book about beer and it was in the book. On a whim, because my name is Andy, I bought some. I got it for the name alone. I find it amusing that I really love the beer.

That does look delicious. I doubt I can buy it here though. So hard to find stouts.

Winter beer season is finally here, so to everyone who can get it, do yourself a favor and get some Highland Cold Mountain. Store here was limiting one case per person, so I went back another day to get a second case

Recently found another great one - Thirsty Dog 12 Dogs of Christmas

Both are delicious, Cold Mountain is brewed with vanilla and hazelnut. 12 Dogs has notes of gingerbread, cinnamon and honey. Worthwhile pickups if you see either and outstanding on draught.

Help me out with some suggestions guys..I'm new to this whole craft thing. I've tried several so far.

Stone IPA--didn't like it
Stone "Go to IPA"--loved it
Dogfish 60--didn't like it
Sixpoint Bengali-loved it
Sixpoint Sweet Action--very good
Alchemist Heady Topper--can't find it, even in southern VT, have to go further north.

Good craft beer is pretty regional and unfortunately I have no idea what's available in VT.

My favorite breweries (in that I like the most varieties of their stuff) currently are probably Founders, Bells, Dark Horse, ********3 Floyd's********** and Cigar City.

Love 3 Floyd's. Too bad I have to drive 900 miles at least to get any.
Ive been getting into alot of Bellingham beer. Theres some Issaquah beer thats really good (Rogue IPA), I had some guiness on Nitro the other night. Smooth, controlled and alot more drinkable than alot of beers surprisingly.
