Interesting. That was the main choice I was shopping against. I ended up going FR-S for cost, reliability, and weight. I think you're the only 911 switcher I've seen, though.

Also switched for cost, tho you cant beat reliability when properly serviced and maintained. Stuff like tires, and brakes just cost more. Not to metion motors and trannys are cast ultra thin. Money aside, I'd take a 911 over my 86 any day. The non turbo 996 motor just isnt a keeper over 100k...came to a point where it wasnt worth continuing to invest in a car I didnt want to keep long term. The 86, is a keeper.

next time I go another 911, it will have to be a turbo, and 997 turbos dont come cheap in good condition
I took my last one hereS-car-go tuning,(cool video) in cali, where they make them go faster, and fab some cool stuff for those cars

No, there is no substitute.

My first car that was given to me was a 97 corolla and my god it took like 5 whole seconds for it to change gears and once hitting passed 60 the car felt like it was going to fall apart on the road and i would die. Then had a 96civic that was a lot better with classic roll up windows etc power felt cool cause it actually accelerated. Then now with the BRZ, MT, leather bucket seats, power windows (lol) the power, handling and the community between other 86 drivers feels amazing I love my BRZ

Miss the torque, but not the tire wear and brake wear,....I got the 86 due to it being cheaper on the wallet and if I slid into a tire wall it wouldn't be such a heart break on a 25k car compared to a 55k car.

M3's are great cars but you do feel their weight at the track. Sold my e46 M3 after tracking it, didn't feel quite as special after that

I keep hearing almost nothing but good things about the e46 though, Everyone is raving about how that is more track oriented vs the e92. I guess ths BRZ/FRS is just that much better than the e46? Never driven one so I wouldn't know

Dont get me wrong. The e46 is a wonderful car..... mine was SMG but a convertible, so not ideal for track anyway. I wanted something that would get back to basics as a DD, hence a manual 86GT, but I was also considering some older stuff (ie older M3 or Porsche 968). I have other cars which I have kept for the track and havent yet tracked an 86, which I very much look forward too.

Thanks. No, I don't still own it. I'm a car whore. I got rid of it for a supercharged Cobra Mustang (445whp) so I could put my kids in it, but I regretted it, as I realized I really value handling more than anything these days. So now I've given up just under 300whp to get into a car that handles like a dream, and is incredibly fun to drive. Man, I love my BRZ. I'm sure I'll wind up supercharging it though...

Yeah...I traded in my 2008 Shelby GT500 (505 HP) for my BRZ.

-4 Power
+3 Agility

And I don't regret it at all.

Wow, that's surprising. I dream about owning a vette some day, and could never get rid of it or my fr-s for that matter.

The 86 are definitely great cars!
