Sometimes a simple comment is stronger than a direct question, especially on a forum. After all, we aren't here to simply read matter of fact or opinion, without commenting. Forums would be a lost medium if that were the case.

Buy some chemicals that melt snow and put them on the steep parts of the driveway before it snows. That's cheaper than tires.

I did this when I drove my low GTI in the snow back when I lived in Michigan (it was also on snow tires)

just don't abuse on it, and clean your car often... they put a lot of salt down here, and our care start to have rust problems after a few year!
