Update:
I had my Wilwood brakes put on by Brady up at Pure Automotive. Great service. They feel a lot more solid, react a lot quicker to pedal input, and just bite much harder. The only downside is they are making more noise than the OEMs. There's a little bit of clunking noise but the installation was correct. I'll keep an ear on it...might just be braking in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still waiting on the FA20Club header and Eibach R2s. Hoping to get both in and on soon.

I see what you did there; or was that an unintentional typo-induced pun? The Wilwoods look great installed! I'm curious why they had to remove your struts to install the BBK. I see one sitting on the shop floor in one of the pics. You doing any DE's soon? |

Could the noise be the new pads bedding in against slots in the rotors? Or is it more of a clunk following brake pedal application, so possibly the piston making noise inside the caliper as it bites down? Do the Wilwood pistons feature anti-knockback springs? If not, they could be the source of the noise, and may be considered normal. Though I'm no expert. |

I should also mention the front of the car feels considerably lighter. I dropped 16lbs per corner with this set up.
^ It's a clunking noise when the pedal is applied. It could just be the piston making noise inside the caliper. I saw a few posts from WRX guys about the same issue. I haven't had much luck with finding a solution. It could just be pad knock back. That seems like it would make sense. This is my first aftermarket brake kit. I was able to run CSL/Competition brakes on my M3 and Turbo brakes on my Carrera 4. So this is new territory for me.

Looks Great..
glad they fit behind the stock wheels.. thats a huge plus.. the clunk could be pad knock-back..if its happening when you release them.. otherwise... Glad they work.. Bill

I bet the noise will fade away once everything is bedded and broken in.
You got build threads for the M3 and the 996? Would love to see them. I instructed a student with a 996 C4S last summer and I was blown away by the performance just riding in it. We were passing faster cars all weekend. Also had a chance to autocross a 997 C4S at the Porsche World Road Show, it was a grip monster compared to the C2S. |

Quick update:
The noise has almost gone away completely. It's taking more and more force to generate the noise. Essentially it now only occurs when I slam the brakes on. So hopefully it will go away completely as I put a few more miles on them. I went out for a spin down my nearby back roads. WOW!! This car is transformed. The reduction of up-sprung weight can be felt immediately. I'm missing 32lbs off the front axle. The turn in is sharper and the car feels a little more responsive to the accelerator. This car is significantly faster on the back roads. The braking is incredible. It feels just as good if not better than the competition brakes on my M3: ![]() Flat out, this car is just way more fun to drive. I'm really going to need those Eibach R2s in soon! The front tends to dive a little bit more. With the headers, coilovers, and wider/grippier tires...this car is going to be a complete blast. The brakes renewed the fun factor in this car. For those interested in this brake kit, it runs about $1K. So it's between the price point of a stoptech kit and the 6-pot wilwood kit. So it's a good option for those who don't want to spend the $1.7K on the 6-pot or go upmarket for brembos/AP racing. Here are a couple pics: I'm sure from a roll they look real nice, but parked..almost stealth: ![]() ![]() Driver's Side: ![]() Passenger's Side:

I'll have to keep tabs on your thread to see how those hold up. I run Wilwoods on my MR2 and they've done fine for street driving but I don't put a ton of miles on the car, either.

Still waiting and waiting and waiting...
Eibach Multi-Pro R2 Coilovers - Eibach says they should be ready by Thursday - my best guess for an ETA in my hands: April 25th - I plan to order my Dunlop Direzza II's after I get them on and installed...enjoy them with the OEM tires/wheels for a week or two. FA20CLUB EL Manifold/Header (catted) - I was told monday they'd ship, still waiting on an update (there was a post that a batch went out - not sure if my order was included). I was hoping they would ship by today so I can get them on this weekend (beautiful weather). I picked up an O2 socket, torque wrench, PB blaster, and a set of OEM gaskets from Subaru. Update - I got an email with tracking number, USPS provides no data so I don't know what the ETA is. (Ordered 24 days ago) -- INSTALLED Unichip AEM Intake Map - I was told the tuner should have them ready by Thursday...fingers crossed UPDATE - Running AEM map now -- INSTALLED I have an apointment to get my windows tinted tomorrow AM. I'm going with 35% all the way around (CXP™ - Non-Metal, Nano-Hybrid, Carbon Construction). I'm not huge on tint, but the sun is going to get hot soon.
