I was one of the few here who also wanted to see this car raw as possible. I actually miss cars with manual door locks, manual windows, manual side mirrors etc. Having to lean over to unlock the passenger door or to stretch your arm and roll down the passenger window! Ol Skool ![]() So is it safe to say that the exterior quirks that most of us were complaining about will probably won't even be there in the final release.

lazy. That is more likely to be an option than manual everything. And power anything is $$$ for a dinky little electric motor or wires or sensors. Pray you don't get the wrong side of the coin and have to pay to replace them.

I'm not worried about repairs... I'll be leasing 36 months so it will be under warranty the whole time.

I hope I can snap some photos. I hear a lot of manufacturers put their cars in hot metal sheds here, and let them idle to stress test them. We also have a LOT of proving grounds here. Here's the Toyota one, everyone ![]() http://goo.gl/maps/LAzQ That is 4 miles long, and 10 miles in circumference. BTW this is the GM grounds. A bit smaller. http://goo.gl/maps/o6kO

In my FT-86 I don't want any comfy features, all I need is a manual air conditioner and a stereo, no navi.

![]() I have to admit I'm a little bit disappointed about the lack of a moonroof on the FR-S. Hopefully the Subaru is different but at the same time if I can save ~$1000 and what...100 pounds? I can be happy about that too. |

My guess is: Chassis = Subaru Engine = Subaru Drivetrain = Outsourced Suspension = Subaru Braking system = Subaru Funding = Toyota Marketing = Toyota Final aero tweaks = Toyota The companies likely cooperated heavily at the beginning stages, to decide on overall project goals, target size/weight/power, etc, and they're likely cooperating heavily for the final polish now that the project is nearly completed. That said, I suspect that the heavy lifting, i.e. development of all the base parts, was done by Subaru. |

Most of the hardware for Toyota's new performance car is really from Subaru. Which is fine, because Toyota's business model allowed it to make stupid amounts of money and buy part of Fuji Heavy Industries, and thereby take some creative control in terms of what Subaru works on. Really, what it all boils down to, is that anybody can make the main physical parts. There's almost no difference between the automakers on this stuff because they've been doing it for like 100 years. The devil is in the details, and Toyota performance cars FEEL the way they do because of this. I have no doubt that regardless of who built the chassis or engine, the car, in Scion form, will feel like a toyota performance car. It'll probably be a bit buzzy, there's probably going to be good amounts of wind and tire noise, and the steering wheel will probably get the jitters over rough roads. And all of those things are fine because apart from the wind noise, the other ones can arguably help connect the driver with the car more ![]() Think how the boys over at Chrysler feel. Every good vehicle they make minus the Ram line of trucks.....rides on a 1 generation old Merc platform....lol |
