I downshift, it just depends on the situation, but usually it's one gear at a time 6th to 5th , or 5th to 4th , 4th to 3rd. Sometimes I'll go 4th to 2nd gear, if I go from 40 mph…. down to 20mph fast ( brake, or engine braking + downshift). I'll say in the last few years, I've been doing more braking… then downshifting ( I'd rather replace brake pads, then to go thru a clutch faster) … but it depends on the situation.
I do believe so.

And ….

OK, I'll chime in with a serious observation.

It took me a while to get used to the relatively high release point of the clutch. The MX5 that I came out of had a real low release point.

Yeah I'll fix it later by throwing in some uel non catted headers and a tune but that's expensive and I'd like to do it all at once. Don't have the money right now

Been missing my driver's side marker light for a long time. Sometimes someone at work will ask what the hole in my fender is for, I tell them I don't have enough money to keep the light there, so it's vacant until the car has to pass inspection. My fender clip is so rusted and mangled, it won't hold onto it at all. I don't mind, I'm too lazy to find a perm solution

Finally have gotten used to sinking down what feels like 5 feet when I go to sit in it and then having to crawl out of the car like Danny DeVito in always sunny climbing out of the couch.

I suggest you just glue it back on. Seriously, I had a marker light come off mrs humfrz's car and I simply glued it on and it's lasted for 2 years now.

I got used to this car, so when I drive another car, I don't know how to drive.

Yeah my understanding was that engine braking was dependent on CR and multiplied through the gearing. But your comment got me thinking about the CR part and whether that's true. Turns out when the engine is off-throttle, it does slow the engine in the compression stroke, but returns most of that energy in the power stroke (essentially like a spring that's being compressed and released). So CR may not have as big of an impact if any on engine braking as I thought.

Some interesting discussion here:

If you need to get into ignition just don’t put your foot on the clutch and press the start button twice, that should get it power on!

I think the greatest impact on engine braking is the annoying computer. Turn off the car to experience what engine braking would be capable of if the ECU wasn’t involved. I wish the FA20 engine braked a little more than it does. I’m sure if I was more experienced in tuning I could improve on it some.

But i dont want to wreck my car lol
