This I agree with. And in my experience, they have.

I'm guessing they are trying to allow for reason and common sense.
I just had a seat and a rust spot fixed under warranty, and they did NOT ask me if I had tracked the car. I'm guessing they would for a number of other types of issues.

Glad you've had a good experience, I've got bad juju with dealerships and I'm bitter about it, I've never gotten far enough along the process to even bring my car in for diagnosis for fear of getting stuck with a several hundred dollar bill.

LOL I have agreed that it is shitty since the first post in this thread. My point has always been that as shitty as it is there is no way around it and if some dealers want to screw people over they have the written contract to support them.

Yeah, I hear you. I've got some nasty stories from one other Toyota dealer, a Subaru dealer and a Mercedes dealer. They have all lost my trust and respect, they will never see me again, and I've told them exactly that.

So dealerships? Roll of a dice. At best. A shot in the dark, at the worst.

Toyota as a global automobile company appear to be one of the best regarding both customer satisfaction and product quality, so if they have a model I like next time around, I'll go back to my current dealership.

I think I agree with that assessment... except I'll be watching the classifieds to pick one up second hand. $5k can buy a lot of coilpacks, brakes, and tires.

The technicality still stands that in North America, at least, they do state in the warranty "Misuse – for example, racing & competitive events, off-roading or overloading".
Now, before everybody jumps on the normal "HPDE isn't racing" bandwagon take very careful note of the use of the words "for example". Everybody likes to try to use the wording to skirt the restriction but those are only examples not the definitive list. No, HPDE is not "racing" nor "competitive" but it could still fall under there definition of misuse.

Everybody can choice to ignore that statement written clearly in the warranty but it is there. Yes, it is grey but that is on purpose.

If you want to be in the hobby of tacking then you need to be prepared to pay the costs of that hobby. The manufacturer is not responsible to cover your costs.

Yep we're both right, taking this car around a track is not competitive, doesn't mean it's misuse or you will be purposely beating the hell out of it. Thanks for reenforcing my point.

Exactly, and until they make it more specific that non-competetive tracking is not covered under the 6/60 I will accept that. But it does not, yet and thy have had a chance to do so since 2012. It's not our fault they advertise this car to take to the track on the weekends but NOT stipulate anywhere that driving around a track for fun will void any warranty claims. They are a multi billion dollar company, i'm sure someone brought this up at least once in 5 years. But someone still says not to specify weekend track use as a warranty void by the customer.

You are still relying on those few words. They are just examples. It doesn't have to be competitive. Some examples of fruit are apples and oranges. Since I didn't say any others were are they the only two fruits?
I did not reinforce anything you have said, you just refuse to acknowledge there could be more things classified as "abuse" that those EXAMPLES given.

Toyota needs to specify this and they have not, the dealer makes the final decision say Toyota Corporate. They don't say it specifically so I will expect that if something fails while driving around a track for fun as they advertise without caveats listed about such use, I want it fixed on them. If they determine it's misuse so be it.

They don't "need" to do any such thing. They could loosen it up even more and just say "any abuse" without even including some examples and we would be stuck with them saying that you drove it in the snow and that was "abuse" so no warranty. Whether you or I like it really doesn't matter that is the way it is worded and that is what you agreed to when you signed the papers.

Well this is the ad I saw, finally found it. What the hell am I supposed to think when I see this ad? To me it's track ready. Go to 2:05 for the specific track mention with NO disclaimer at all. I bought it to track on the weekends, that's what I do. If they state I'm not to do what they advertise I would accept that. but no where is it said. I'd fight Toyota on this if they try and so should anyone else.

One last time.

THEY DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!
They care about making a profit and if the 5% of the owners that are so worried about track warranty or that it was advertised on a track walk then they will just sell to a different 5%.

Did you leave you car completely stock? That was how it was when advertised so there is no need to change anything.
