I hope toyota can release specs like weight and hp figures so I can decide if I want to buy this or not. I've been looking at a couple s2000's as of late and all I can say is that it's hard not to make some offers on some slightly used 07-08's. The 2nd concept really turned me off to this car with all the flashy stuff. I'm just hoping the production version will be toned down a bit. With summer approaching i'm starting to get the itch for a good handling summer car. AAAhhhhhh!!!!

I've had a bit of a stressful week, and this apparent almost confirmation of the FT86 becoming a Scion is really bothering me.
I'm very close to being out. The final straw will be seeing how serious they really are about this car. Basically it comes down to the motor. If it is little more than a re-flashed FB25 with a better exhaust, I'm out. I'm feeling trolled in a way, too. In December of 2009 I signed up to a forum that was about a beautiful, clean Toyota, inspired by the old AE86. Now I am a member of a forum dedicated to a factory riced-out Scion. WTF happened here? Is this one of Scion's new fancy marketing techniques? I'm still going to be putting away cash for a down payment, but depending on how things go, that may end up going towards a low-mile MR-S and then a 2ZZGE/6M swap. Should be less money than the Scion anyways, get better mileage, be faster, and be just as reliable if I keep the motor mostly stock. I'll also see if I'm in a better mood when I find out more about whether our company gets sold or not and what will happen after etc...

they ask what we will do if the ft86 fails and then people tell you and then you bitch and call them trolls...the internet is full of idiots. if i could use a vette without being afraid to crash something that expensive the ft wouldnt even be on my radar. i can tell you it wont handle or go anywhere near a c6. i cant even see how this car will sell with miatas and mustangs being cheaper. im here because im curious to see what toyota can do. right now i have doubts

As for the Miata and Mustang being cheaper, well do you have a confirmed price on the Toyota/Scion? That's the next big question after getting confirmed power and weight figures. It could be a deal breaker if the price climbs to beyond the 'affordable' that everyone is expecting. This car will likely be in the same price range as the Miata Sport (which is only a 5 speed) or Touring trim, I would hope. If it's more expensive I hope it's in the 200 hp 2500lbs range. As for the Mustang, I've never considered buying one, even though I recognize that they are a billion times better than the old Fox 302s. A lot of people probably feel the same way. When it comes to handling, they are benchmarking the Porsche Cayman, and have been testing extensively at the Nurburgring. I'm anticipating that it will actually out handle a C6 (not saying it will necessarily be faster around a track, though). The Scion blab still bugs me. I put the pic in my sig, with my wheels, but a bad driving experience or bad buying experience (douchy sales reps) I will still walk. My backup car is an MR-S and swapping in a 2ZZGE/6M combo, a hardtop and very minor other mods. It meets the lightweight, high revving, RWD, superb handling, decent mileage criteria of the FT86/FR-S, without dealing with idiot Scion sales reps trying to sell me coloured lighting and in-car DVD players, or other silliness. Plus I don't plan on drifting, so the mid-engine is no problem at all.

If you look at all of SOB's post there is NOTHING that he/she/it says that involves any interest in the car. I even quoted a statement he said "Won't buy one anyways" and "200HP isn't enough" is trollin'. Lol This car's initial statements have been 200HP. Lol He obviously doesn't want this car, so why is he even on this forum? I'm surprised he hasn't been banned yet. Lol Shesh, people are soo sensitive when typing on forums. Read what you type before you post if you don't want to be flamed.

He adds character. Lets people reinforce their own faith in the car. heh...
This has got to be one of the most lightly moderated forums I've ever experienced. Edit: Is it odd that my back-up car for the FR-S, is the MR-S? Hmmm... Unconventional naming indeed, Scion.

Yea, this is the most lightly moderated forums I've been on. I suspect Hatchi expects people to act accordingly disregarding age, but of course there are always bad seeds around. Lol. And I don't think your back-up car is... inconvenient.. maybe just a coincidence.

They're both popular track cars??? (That's the best I could do for logic.)
