Well, got my income tax return today!

As in I have to return over $1200 to the government. Yay for the military only taxing me $3.88 on all my income this year, going over 10% personal use on my work truck and not putting enough away into my rrsp to offset all that.

Life is good.

Though, I suppose the seller of those coils flaking on me worked out for be best. Now I have the money to pay off what I owe the government in one go.

Ugh, even Markham is getting crazy expensive.
I was looking at possibly moving there & realized NOPE. I'm too used to low rent costs, and a housing market that makes a little bit more sense.

But to her defense, differential equations looks scary enough to call a terrorist...
Back in 2011 there was a U Mich prof that accidentally bought his 7 year son a hard lemonade at a Tigers game. Someone in the stands saw it and called the security, who called the cops. The kid was examined at the stadium and the local hospital and found not to have any measurable amount of alcohol in his system. Child Protective Services took the kid away anyways. It was a total nightmare. The mom was away, out of the country IIRC. No one could convince CPS to return the kid to the dad. They tried to find some other family member from out of state. Eventually they released the kid to the mom after three days, but the dad had to move out of the house. Talk about overkill. Just unreal.

I found out afterwards a good friend of mine knows the guy. Turns out he had been working outside the US for some years and didn't know that "Mike's" isn't just plain lemonade.

Dude, I was looking in Markham proper, and some of the places I was looking at were 800k or more for a, wait for it... A TOWNHOUSE.

The American Dream ain't real, brother. Can't afford to live where you work, and if you can, you're in a shitty area with a shitty, small 1 bedroom apartment.

Though, not all hope is lost. Found a gorgeous place, on the water, 1200sqft in Georgina that was around 230k. That was on the market for less than a week.

Basically anything within an hour of the GTA is absolutely fucked. As mentioned earlier, even Guelph is insane. I can afford an older townhouse, which isn't the end of the world, but a garage is a really big want for me. Ah well, maybe I'll find a wife shortly and double that income. Though, the girl I'm seeing now is 20 and going to school, so I have 2 years to wait for her to be making any money if anything serious comes of that.

I would threaten legal action. No way in hell should that have happened. Overkill is overkill, until it becomes a misuse of resources, which that sounds like.
