However, (this is where the clarification comes in), the rate of fluctuation in the temperatures is now faster. The fans turn off at about 185F, and turn back on at about 195F (depends on which temp sensor you're logging). Once the fans turn on, coolant temps start to go down, and when they turn off, the temps start to go back up. The rate at which the temps goes back up was faster post-Rotrex, indicating that there was indeed more heat going into the coolant, but the fans were able to bring the temps down every time, also indicating that the stock system is more than capable of handling that extra horsepower.

When you start dumping oil heat into the radiator... well, my data set for that is not yet large enough to draw any conclusions.
I thought the fans turn on at 212 F someone was mentioned that and also suggesting lowering the fan activation to 200 F might help so I asked @moto-mike and he suggested that the moving air is more effective to reduce coolant temps than the fans, and the fans can be counterproductive since it may cause drag after 30mph..so I don't know

It depends on the car, and it depends on the fans.

Remember, we're adding restrictions in front of the radiator (intercooler), so you need to be going at a decent speed for the air flowing into to be "more" than what the fans can pull through the radiator. In the case of our testing, we're talking speeds between 60 and 100 mph, and the fan still pulls more than is being pushed through by the velocity.

Anecdotal evidence: even at 130MPH, a 12" 20 amp SPAL pulls more air than is pushed through a FMIC/AC condensor/Radiator stack, that is assisted with a louvered/vented hood and undertrays.

Thanks for the vid. How much power are you putting down?

Sure, I didn't get a chance to take it to a dyno place but as soon as I can do that I will share some dyno graphs

congrats, don't make the same mistake I did and do this now before even start installing your kit

, I've only left one hose un-clamped and it popped off at my last track event :/ and of course it was the hardest to reach (under the intake manifold)

hey guys, I just installed the kit and put in a 4 bar MAP with the "4bar base tune"
Now I got
1.rough idle,
2.CEL (P0107-MAP sensor low input),
3.a tracking control on while decelerating.

Any one has experience like this in the KW kit?

Any other lessons learned that I should know about?
Are the instructions quite thorough?

Do an inventory of the kit before you get started.

Subaru/Scion should've included clamps on all the vacuum lines imo. Also are you planning to upgrade radiator and add oil cooler, if so maybe it is the best time to do..

I think instructions were good but could be better for sure (including factory tq specs and putting the steps and pictures side by side), I would read the OP's and other members' installation tips on this thread (I have a few starting from page 38 and page 39)
such as including all the TQ specs in the service manual.

Few important time saving tips would be,
  • hose clamps prior to installation
  • putting the hoses on the oil filter, oil canister and bypass valve before installing them on the car since they will be hard to reach
  • be extra careful when priming the charger
