Plugs are supposed to be changed at 75,000 miles if I remember correctly. Save your money and enjoy the trip. $450 will get you a lot of In-N-Out burgers and gasoline and hotels.

Practice makes perfect.... I have a guy at work here that'll have both heads off in under an hour. I'm not too worried about the plugs.... not to mention the number of miles I put on the car I wont be doing plugs until 2025 anyway LOL

Book time on the plugs.... 3.5 hours. And the procedure is a bit of a bitch outside of the shop environment.

60k service at my dealer includes doing the plugs and it's $675. If it needs any replacement coils it's extra for the parts if the car is over 60k so I plan to get it done at ~59 so stuff will still be under warranty. Should be spring '16 or so until I need to worry about it though.

It can be done without raising the motor up and everything the shop manual states. It just requires patience, but can be done.

You can change the plugs without lifting engine etc.... Couple of race teams here in the UK have drilled strategic holes ( not chssis damaging ) which allows removal with a long extension bar.
