I mean, if you can hit 700HP on them without too much trouble, why bother with a swap?

Do what you'd like, of course, but it wouldn't be high up on my list of engines to drop into an FR-S/BRZ.

We've already established that it's close enough in weight to the FA20 that it's a non-issue, it'll make 300 bhp with an off the shelf tune, and aside from that, it's dead-stock reliable. It won't break the rest of my driveline, and minivan motors aren't exactly high priced at the local boneyard. Meets all my criteria as a candidate.

wouldn't the V6 from Toyota make a bit more sense considering it has proven itself quite capable in the MR2 and some other older toyota sports cars

I think if you're dumping any sort of money into an engine swap, just go 2J or LS and call it a day. No sense spending the same amount of money on a swap thats down on power.

Oh most definitely, I would love a 2gr-fse. But I also love seeing people push boundaries and making things unique.

If 300 NA bhp is your goal, and entirely achievable with a J series, then explain how that's 'down on power'?

Shhhh, there is no reasoning with a "put an LS in it" guy.

Not to mention that an LS or 2J will require a different transmission, better cooling, and likely axles and such. A V6 needs none of that.

So, I logged on today, and this is what I saw.

Oh, hey look, that Honda V6 thread came up again, and the last post was by OP!

Wow, I hope he made some progress, or has some sort of announcement!

Maybe he took some measurements, or started the swap?!

I'm going to go have a look!

Nope, just more schoolboy bullsh*tting.

Disappointing.

Oh, look - it's the troll. Please, tell us more about how nothing can be done for less than a zillion dollars and an LS... Make sure you back it up with elaborate and inaccurate info.

Or better yet, use the 'Back' button and visit another thread where shift knobs or LED dome lights or titanium valve stems are the topic.

Oh, now don't get defensive. I know it must hurt to admit to yourself that you've done literally nothing besides bluster and argue, even with people who actively encourage you.

I know it's easier to throw insults than look an unpleasant reality in the face.

A zillion, yes. That's what I said. I didn't break down all the major aspects of your swap as line item expenses. I didn't point you to exactly where you could find specific, useful information on other successful "budget" swaps. I said "a zillion." Wait. The opposite happened.

I will reiterate, as I'm literally the only one between us who is still on topic.

Have.

You.

Done.

Literally Anything?

The answer is no.

/Thread.

Or should I keep bringing up more things you either don't know about or didn't think of?

[QUOTE=Spartarus;2734154] you've done literally nothing /QUOTE]

If you'd read any replies besides your own, you would've seen my comment just a few months ago stating that with only ~30K miles on my car, I'm not expecting to need to do ANY engine-related work for some time. I'm here to gather (useful) info at my leisure, not entertain you with 'pics or it didn't happen'. I doubt you noticed that though, since the droning sound of your own internal monologue undoubtedly makes it impossible to do so.

So, the only "/thread" here is the expectation that you have a single useful piece of info to contribute. But hey - I doubt anyone is surprised, based on your 'contributions' to other threads. Of course, I'm sure everyone would love to hear about your $500 motor mounts and thousand dollar headers....lol.

EDIT: actually, DON'T tell us about motor mounts and headers...your lack of creativity and experience is boring me and you're just ruining another thread with it.

Hate to drag you kicking and screaming back to reality, but you failed to address any of the information you purportedly came here to gather.

You continue to personally attack anybody who doesn't pat you on the head and tell you what a good idea you have. You continue to ignore inconvenient information and only address the small pieces of posts which you can personally attack or argue with.

You considered the information about the starter location worthy, but not the height concern, even though you haven't measured either. The only difference was the demeanor with which the information was presented. Contrary to your accusations, I read every post, to avoid wasting anybody's time or double-posting.

It doesn't cost a dime to take measurements, and you haven't done that.

The feasibility of your entire project hinges on a couple of simple measurements.

That fact was pointed out to you by several people, not just myself, and yet you defend your idea as though simple facts are personal attacks. You never took a single measurement, even now. There are people on this forum who could walk you through the process, some of them even have the engine lying around.

You have no idea whether your idea will work. You have the means to test it, and you refuse to do so, because you are deeply emotionally invested in your idea.

Ok, what are you going to do about motor mounts and headers? Who's going to build you a set of bespoke swap headers for under a grand? Because nobody's making a kit. You're not getting the mass-production discount. Not that it's really ever worth it with aftermarket parts.

You've failed to contribute to, been laughed out of, or been ignored in every mechanical thread you've dared to enter. You've been called stupid and arrogant by other people. You call the EZ36 a bloated turd and yet you want to install a SOHC minivan engine.

Meanwhile I take time out of my day to fix other people's problems, often remotely with limited information, usually successfully, always for free.

It's OK, you New England software guys are pretty soft people.
