It will be exactly the same as any other stock AT FRS/BRZ so all the posts above apply.

The worst feeling is if you're in "M" in stop and go, and you can feel the TQ converter locking and unlocking while in 1st, which causes a huge jerk. So what I do now while I sit on the 401/QEW in the middle of a shitstorm is actually put in on "M" and snow mode, so 1st is completely locked out, just like how on an actual M/T you're doing rolling stops in 2nd..... |

Nice I never tried that. So when in M and snow mode engaged, the car will not go into first? Are you able to go into first via paddles?

The car will not go into first. Even with paddles, it will beep at you when you try to downshift into first, locking you out until you take it out of snow mode

Did you ever really drive in snow mode in the winter? I didn't find a need to, but this is the first winter I've had nice snow tires. With my old Mazda 626, I'd start in second a lot of the time in winter. One of the few reasons I miss driving stick.

I use snow mode in winter only when there is actual accumulation of snow, say over 5 cm of snow from a dead stop. You don't really get stuck in 1st, it's just that you don't really get going through intersections that quick. For science, I tried ramming the throttle in 1st +M mode, with snow, all TC on, and a couple times the tranny actually shifts without your consent to 2nd because of too much wheel spin

Doesn't it also cut throttle response though? Or is that just perceived. I seem to recall someone saying that, or reading it. Either way, I never really used it, seemed a bit more like a novelty than anything. Kind of like people saying they drive in M with sport mode on lol @drewbot

The one time I was in the snow with the FR-S I tried snow mode, but I found manual to be better. Snow mode started off great but then if the wheels spun enough it would shift to 3rd. I felt like I had better control just in manual mode.

@Bergen23 I still have no idea if sport mode and M combined have any effect on the tranny at all after almost 2 years of driving

I even hear guys with the MT say they are driving in sport mode since we also have the "VSC Sport" button. |
