How do you like the kit? I'm in socal also and looking into getting it probably with the pt5858 looking for around 350whp starting and something that can easily go 450+

Considering switching over to Turbo from SC, and as I was looking over your kit I noticed that in all your threads on the forum you use the Precision 4854 journal bearing turbo as the base, but on your website it shows the Precision 4831 journal bearing as the base.

Does it change much/at all in the power band?

No, it really wouldn't. This is just the "new" part number that Precision renamed that specific turbo. It's common for them to change part #s frequently. And really it depends on your power goals. For pump gas only, I find that turbo works pretty well, and depending on fuel, should net you in the 300whp range. If you want 350+, (especially on E85) I would upgrade to either the 5558 or 5858.

It's crazy how little torque to hp these cars have...that said this has to be one of the best bang for your buck turbo kits out there!

Aight, because I'm shooting for 300-320ish whp on 93, though I'm budgeting for flex fuel in case I can't find a turbo with the power band I'm looking for. Looking for something that starts spooling around ~2500 rpm, making like 90% of peak torque before 5000 rpm.

Most likely due to the little boost these cars can run due to it's high compression. I remember doing tuning on my car before we released the kit, and we had the boost controller set backwards lol. The car hit 21 psi before we let off (luckily the car wasn't mad) and it made pretty damn good torque...

How much torque do you think the trans can safely handle?

I don't think it likes anything over 350wtq. 4th gear seems to be the weakest one, as that is the most common stripped gear I have seen on some big power FRS/BRZ's.

I had a feeling around 340-350. How should I be on shifting pretty gentle?

That's up to you. I always let the car warm up before I ever beat on it. But when I did, I shifted pretty aggressively.
