Same thing applies to lightened flywheels.
If you lighten your flywheel & pulley (all rotating mass) and try to "peel out" from a stop, you will have a much harder time than if you had the heavier rotating mass.
Ok a spinning crank pulley has kinetic energy which to my knowledge is not considered potential energy or stored energy. Also the rotating mass of the crank pulley is miniscule compared to rotating mass of the engine itself. I don't think a couple of pounds off the crank pulley will limit your ability of doing a burnout.

My pulley kit has not limited my ability to do a burnout.
I'm trying to blow through these cheap ass stock tires so I burn out all the time!

What you're saying is the kinetic energy present in the pulley will transfer back through the whole drive train and make the car accelerate faster?? Maybe for about a couple seconds after you drop the clutch. Funny thing is as you lighten rotating mass it becomes easier to accelerate. You are correct in that this pulley really only can show this when free revving so the real benefit is only faster throttle response.

Any additional rotating mass is going to be parasitic as RPMs increase, and will sustain revolution, kinetic motion upon RPM reduction. All added mass will both decrease rate of acceleration and decrease rate of deceleration. As someone else said, the further away from the center of rotation the weight is, this will have a slowing effect on acceleration and deceleration. Think of the figure skater who brings her arms and legs in, her RPM increases significantly with no other effort on her part. Sit on a stool that spins and turn with your legs and arms sticking out, then suck them in tight and your rotation will accelerate and you will likely be flung onto the floor. The point of my post is this: if you want a lighter pulley, buy it. If not, then don't. End of physics

This is a hilarious thread. Can we all just agree that lightening the rotating mass on an engine is good unless you are partial to revving it up and dropping the clutch. Ie in gear acceleration benefits from lightness and hard launches and clutch kicking benefit from more weight.

No, because if you are microwaving popcorn there is no way a lightweight pulley will make it taste any better.

I hear you can microwave popcorn with cell phones. I saw it in a youtube video once: it must be true. Lets have an internet debate about it!

No, no you got it wrong. You can recharge phone batteries by putting them in a microwave...

What kind of sauce goes well with them?
(Ffs!! Google Images isn't returning anything of use when I search "batteries sauce".)

Feeling peckish,what to eat?
Maybe a serving of pickled feet
Just remembered can not do that
Already eaten the legs off the cat
A dish of batteries is what'll have
Has to be better than a battered sav
Bit of garlic to complement
The taste of acid condiment
A twelve volt sandwich will be fully
Just so tasty with a lightweight pulley
