I'm hoping something cheaper fits. Like an updated r154 out of a newer truck. The v160s might as well be made out of gold where I'm at.

If you have any adapter plates from an old test pattern or that were flawed during manufacturing, I'd be tempted to buy it from you. I have no need for a Supra transmission, but it would make a nice garage clock or piece of art in a man cave.

Still putting it together but it will be similar to the price of our S2000 kit. This kit uses a few more parts so it will cost slightly more.

S2000 Kit = $995 for converison kit
$2395 for the Custom Twin Disc

Once everything is done and tested, this kit will be available to the public.
How much heavier is this than the OEM transmission? Also, I suspect that this will change the distance between the output shaft of the transmission and the rear differential, so a new driveshaft would be necessary, right?

Have y'all considered putting together a stronger gearset that's able to withstand more torque, and with longer ratios to better suit FI in this car?

you need to read the whole thread. yes new driveshaft, about 20 pounds heavier, no gearsets, too expensive and not much room in the case.

Yes a new driveshaft will be needed to make it work. We have thought about making a gear set but after opening the OEM trans ,we've decided not to go down that path.

A complete 6-speed gearset would of costed $6k plus. Keep in mind, the synchro design on these gear boxes are not the greatest either. Only way to make the OEM box hold is a straight cut dog engagement. I cannot see any other way to make it reliable for big power usage.
