I don't understand why they put a CVT transmission into this car as well. I believe that the CVT is going to be a major turn off. I used to own a CVT car and I'm never ever going to own another CVT in my life.

It's great that they're giving people more options like a manual or a automatic, but that CVT really ruins it for me.
The mindset on a CVT vs a dual-clutch transmission is that it is lighter, simpler, and of course much cheaper. Of course if I was going to have an automatic, which will never happen, it would be a dual-clutch all the way.

But with the majority of WRX buyers opting for manual, gas prices, costs, etc. A CVT seems like a good choice especially to those who are new to the market and wouldn't know the difference between autos anyway.

He was just guessing it. It is not announced, even our top Subaru seller forum member here still has no clue yet

Either that, or he is just comforting himself for not waiting on the WRX but went for the BRZ instead...probably Remorses

Haha nope, waiting for the WRX for now. I emailed SOA and was told that it will be about $500.00 more (estimated) than the current WRX, which is at about 27,500-27,750 so I thought I'd share what I was told.

MSRP on the current generation WRX sedan is $26,790. So a $500 increase would put it at $27,290 for the base model.

But SOA has not announced pricing so the person you talked to is just guessing. The salesman I spoke with at Subaru who has been selling them for 15 years and was at the press event for the 2015 WRX in California told me that while they expect the price to be within $500 or so, there are also rumors that it could cost over $1K more and as much as $2K more than the current model. He does not think that would happen, but a $1K increase over the 2014 is not improbable.

I'd reserve judgement until we can get a test drive to compare. I'll grant that the new rex probably won't have the same ultra low 'one with the car' feel of the BRZ, but I bet it'll be as subjectively fun to drive as the current AWD lineup. Fun is totally subjective. Some people like fighting understeer. Others like trying to drift every corner. Others just want to go as fast as they possibly can trying to hit perfect lines.

The spoiler is effective at keeping the ass planted at 100+MPH. Subaru put the spoiler on the early STIs because they were tossing the rear up in the air too much during rally jumps.

It's ugly but effective. I bought my 05 STI because it's ugly in a beautifully-utilitarian way.

You are correct sir, mad prop to ya

I would add in another fun of High Revving engine like the Integra R, or S2k....ETC. It doesn't have the torque at low RPM, but if you rev the heck outta it, it fly...LOL! Kinda similar to F1, just F1 has Twice the RPM

If you notice I said OTD "Out The Door" That includes destination fees. (Does not include tax/title/registration fees)
Therefore I conclude my 28k price was correct as was explained. Just sharing what I was told!

That ain't too bad. But I would negotiate it down to be 28k out the door. To me OTD include taxes and fees.....

Otherwise the Evo is a better buy

After watching that video, I can honestly say the new WRX doesn't look half as bad as I thought it did. If you only look at the B pillar and rear of the WRX, it has the same shape as a 335i.
The odd things that should change is the slope of the roof, which gives it that civic look, and bulge the rear fenders more. The front fenders look waaay wider than the rear fenders.
In my opinion they should have moved the A-Pillar 3-4 inches back from where it is now and make the C-pillar taller and more triangular, like the current GV WRX/STi, and maybe lengthen the decklid of the trunk.

http://www.subaru.com/auto-show/detroit-2014.html
Hopefully the STi looks more aggressive with wider rear fenders and appropriate rims for that wheel gap, along with the big wing.

The rear definitely looks like the 335i, esp with the little lip spoiler. Glad it wasn't just me that thought this. Overall, I don't think it really looks all that bad for a subaru sedan. I think the front fascia and the A pillar sweep has a little bit of Evo X look to it.

im thinking like trading my frs for the 2014 sti hatchback, like the hatchback better than the sedan.

Any 2014 hatchback owners regrets? not interested in the new civic/corolla/evo hybrid as of now

I would test drive the STI and WRX hatchback. There WRX is actually faster 0-60 and with a few simple suspension mods can handle about as well as the STI. For a lot less money.

If you need a useable backseat and trunk area the hatch is awesome. I fit four adult comfortably in my car the other day First time that has happened in a a long time.
