Mine blows warm air with A/C off even with dial down to coldest setting.
Very annoying, should be pulling fresh cool air from outside not recycled heated air in the engine compartment. |

Back in the day, we had a little lever under the dash that, when pushed down, would open a vent just below the windshield, which allowed lots of fresh air in the cabin. Maybe that concept will get re-invented .... ![]() humfrz |

If you want to stop the warm air, press the recirculate button...

For me its not really stopping the warm air but rather wanting cool fresh air without the A/C.
It would be nice for those days where its in the 60's and you want to just let fresh air in the vents come in so you dont kick the A/C on. The cool fresh air would be just enough to keep the cabin comfortable. I know you can do the same by rolling down the windows but sometimes I dont want the noise from the wind. |

I've had a few cars that do this as well without turning the light on.

You can however push the middle button inside the fan speed dial. It will change the locations, (ie Windshield, vent, floor.) Give it a go.

Yeah, it's lame for defrost but helps a lot with defogging.
I noticed if you set it on the between setting (right before foot and window) it doesn't turn the ac on though.

Yeah, but the air mix door will still be full hot. The a/c runs for dehumidifying on defrost. If you're in a humid environment and try to run straight heat with no a/c you won't be able to see anything.

My heatshield is made from Al foil from a flattened bbq griller pan and I know it looks naf, but you can easily prove/disprove with Alfoil. Let me know your results and I promise not to be offended. |

There is likely a way to disable this, there often is on Hondas and Toyotas at least. It involves turning/holding various knobs on the center console and or A/C area. Did it for my RSX, now I have the option to run the compressor or not during defrosts. As for our twins, I'd guess it might be done through the TechStream thingy at the dealership since you can do just about everything else with it. Actually getting a tech to look through all the various options is another story. And just getting them to acknowledge they can even use the Tech thingy for you is the first hurdle. |

Do it with gold foil heat reflector tape, make it look nice and you'll probably get responses. They sell it at most auto parts stores for $10-$15. I would try this but I wouldn't be able to give you an answer until next summer as it already cold as balls here
![]() My vents stayed closed and my windows stayed open last summer but I will want to change that next time around for highway driving at least.
