The interior was really lacking in a few areas on this car, in my opinion.

Had to get the BeSpoke to make it look nicer and improve the audio quality.

Immediately after purchase I bought the Sportsguy armrest... Love it. Actually purchased then immediately sold an OEM-style arm rest. Opening to the side, it just isn't as functional as being able to remove it all together when you want to.

These are the worst parts of the factory interior in my opinion

Already installed the yospeed FR-S sills and ordered black anodized block-patterned pedals.

Such an immediate improvement and incredibly easy to install:

Like these, but the countersinks will still be anodized:

Ultimately, I'd like to make all of the silver interior trim black or dark grey. I've contemplated hydrographic dipping (google it) them with a dark CF pattern (because the overlay stuff is way too expensive for what it is), but I'd probably get tired of that.

And the lack of controls on the steering wheel does suck if you are like many of us with the "upgraded" BeSpoke system. God that whole unit and price is aweful. Touch controls in a car aren't the smartest idea. Try navigating your playlist or do anything on that thing while driving. Save yourself the headache and get a ProClip and use Siri to control your iPhone. It's the safest option.
Even the BRZ Premium can get the auto hvac controls. Its not standard

Sorry about the long rant... I guess I just really, really love the interior of my car. It's not luxurious and it's not fancy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Have you ever had a car with dual climate control?

You do realize you just rambled a bunch of nonsense... I can easily keep my Dual climate control to just blow outside air with no A/C just by pushing the little button that says A/C, and the recirculate button just like one does on a basic unit, effectively turning off the compressor and sucking in ambient air... I can do the same thing in my mothers lexus, and I can do the same in my Bimmer... hell my bimmer always turns on with recirculate mode off...

Personally owned? No. Been in plenty of them for extended periods of time though, both driving as rentals or riding in as a passenger in which I assume the role of navigator and co-pilot so I've had plenty of time to play with auto climate systems.

Oh yes, I most certainly do.

Ah, good to know! Thanks for letting me know. That was, after all, the point of my disclaimer here:

It's all in good humor, eh?

So all in all, Luis_GT has informed me that my fear of auto climate may have been a bit misplaced and now I guess I can go back to wishing my center console looked like the cockpit of a fighter jet like all you lucky Limited owners... nnnaaaaaaahhhhhhhh jk j/k I still like it just how it is.

Really though... thanks for filling me in.

You've been in crappy cars then... I have yet to see a car that has Dual Climate control without those features...

And I wasn't debating, I simply put real facts on the table, and since you said you could be wrong, I corrected you, but that disclaimer should have been at the top, since 3/4 of your post was rambling about the A/C, after the 3 paragraph of the same stuff no one is going to finish reading.

and seeing as 3/4 of you post was related to the A/C and not the car, it was more of a prose to your basic looking A/C than your car, since that is what you mostly focused on, albeit on a biased non-informed kinda way.

ehh, what can I say? ...some people are just aren't gonna be happy with your differences in opinion no matter how insignificant the issue.

Well I DID have the TLDR disclaimer right there at the very beginning... seems like it was a pretty fair warning and you could have just too-long-didn't-read'd it, right?

Maybe I'm biased, maybe I'm not... but you're hardly lacking in bias yourself considering your obvious offense to the suggestion that someone could be perfectly happy with their simple FR-S climate knobs. If you truly had zero bias then you would be no more bothered by my difference in taste for climate controls than you would be bothered by my difference in taste for music, beer, or women, right? Why can't we just be friends?

I am genuinely, deeply sorry that I wasted your time with my stupid, old-mannish ramblings. Don't worry about any of those bothering you again in the future, as I was really just trying to get that post count up to 10 so I could start clicking the thanks button and I think this is post number 10 right here.

I'll go back to just reading every single thing you guys say on here and not saying anything myself... it's more my style anyway. I'll try to keep it short if I've got anything to say in the future and hopefully it won't be in any threads you care about as to avoid wasting your time again.

Take care dudes

I like the interior as well, honestly the only thing in the interior that matters to me is the seat to steering, its angle, driving position and on the FRS it tops anything this side of a Porsche.

@mitosis don't let Luis scare you off. Of course you can turn a/c OFF on any car, whether it has "climate control" or standard manual adjustments. Your point was that you prefer the manual. That's cool. A lot of us share that sentiment. Stick around!

For me the interior is all around pretty good for what you get, if I really hated the interior I wouldn't bother ordering. A lot of the critical points with regards to driving have indeed been addressed. Would I like better plastics and overall materials? Sure, I guess my Cressida spoiled me but I also know that the vast majority of cars in this price range don't have amazing materials either nor do some more expensive ones. The only thing and I mean only thing I didn't like are the HVAC knobs. Perhaps I would be ok with them if...I don't know they didn't look so ugly. Most of the knobs remind me of a poverty spec previous gen Toyota Yaris, in fact they might actually be...because they look eerily similar.

I'm all cool with people who are ok with it. I just wish this car wasn't sold as a Scion and instead as a Toyota so I could pick and choose and not get stuck with monospec or get stuck with a RS version and a colour I didn't want. Given the option I'd happily pay more to get rid of it and get the dual HVAC unit. Given that, no more problems from me.

One thing I hate (and Toyota seems to be one of the most guilty ones out there):

Who decided to forcibly link the setting that blows air at your windshield with the A/C?
I know it's to clear up condensation/fogging, but shouldn't that be up to the driver?
In the winter, I'm trying to melt the ice/snow on my windows, not necessarily clear up any fog - and if I need to do so, that's what the A/C button is for...

On a side note: has anyone created a "padding" add-on that attaches to the e-brake handle?

It doesn't cycle on to cool down the air, it's to dehumidify the air which reduces condensation (fog). Next time you're in the car push on the A/C button and turn the temp to hot, it'll blast just as hot if not hotter than without the A/C engaged, it's there to "dry" the air and works much better with it than without it.

I'm just glad I can defog the windshield w/o the car opening up external circulation on its own. That shit pisses me off.
