Driftster, you made a very good point - It is silly to consider things like hauling tires around and carrying a passenger, I'm just trying to look at the big picture. And that's something I would have to do.. carry tires and a passenger. Reliability is a tremendous factor. That SC looks like a nice setup on that s2000, but how does it hold up at 300whp? Do people daily drive them like that and do okay? And also, don't those SC kits run around $5000? Then another $3,500 or so to get someone to install/tune it? |

It would cost less to EJ swap the AS1(FT86). Not worth it IMO.

Against a stook CR? Man... tough question. Those will stay way more exclusive and my taste tends towards exclusivity. But I choose Toyobaru because I prefer a roofed unibody (coming from owning a hardtopped roadster).

I suppose $10,000 on top of a used S2000 in good condition for $20k with 50k miles on it for 300hp is a little much. It sounds like a blast, but I've owned boosted cars. Extra hp isn't the only thing that interests me anymore.
If the FR-S ends up coming out with the option for a TRD s/c kit I will most likely be all over that. Will probably only give it about a 40hp increase but I feel that that is all it will need. Those looking for more power will most likely just be doing swaps. I'm guessing stock for stock with S2000 will be 1 secondish quicker in the 1/4 mile than the FR-S/BRZ. S2000s run 14s don't they? |

My Tacoma is also TRD supercharged. It's great to drive everyday but it too heatsoaks mildly on hot socal days. $0.02... On a daily driver the SC is great. I actually prefer it. For a car that will see some (or a lot) of track time I prefer N/A and N/A bone stock really with a proper oil cooler and trans fluid cooler if auto. If not N/A i'd consider a turbo with a fat I/C. Sometimes the confidence of being able to get home w/o having to call a tow truck is worth more than 50-75hp. |

I still love my S2K to death. I've owned it for more than 6 years, and over the years have transformed it into my ultimate track toy. For me, it's not about all out horsepower or straight line speed, as my engine has been kept completely stock besides intake and exhaust. Since I have owned and tracked my S2k for so long, I am just looking for a new car and a new challenge. Then the FSR/BRZ comes along. This car has all the features I am looking for; lightweight, balanced, good handling, a fixed roof, and more space for carrying wheels/tires (something I could not do with my S2k). Even though it may not quite match the S2k in terms of pure performance, I still think it has great potential. I know I can still have tons of fun with it for many more years to come. Here is a recent pic of my S2K.

colatkitty, you could pass your S2K off to me, I promise to take care of it
![]() I know what you mean by looking for something new, I'm looking for something new to challenge myself now that I've got the hang of the S2K. I'm guessing that since I already have the top two handling street cars on my list I need something more off the wall.

@colatkitty, thats a good looking S2K you got there.
I sold my low mileage 08 S2000 CR so that I can get the FRS/BRZ when it comes out. Do I miss the S2K? Sure I do. But there are a few short comings of the S2K that the FRS/BRZ does not have. Of course money can solve all these issues but thats not the point. 1) Convertible - That means I need to get a rollbar for track and also even a relatively new CR flexes in the corners. 2) 2 Seater - That means can't transport tires. Don't want to have to add a hitch and trailer to transport tires. 3) High Seating Position - The high position with no height adjustment really bothered me. I need to slough in order to see out the car clearly. 4) Gas Mileage - Not very fuel effecient. 5) Discontinued - Well, parts will eventually be less and less available and aftermarket support will be less and less. 6) Short Throw Shifter - Some people like it but I prefer the regular S2000 shifter.

Do you think that the driving experience in the FRS will be more involving, more direct, more uncompromising that the CR? If so, and you are right, I'll be really pleased. |

Don't blame the manufacturer for not giving you a seat that fits your body, just do it yourself. I'd have to say that I'm 80% sure that the FT-86 variants will be way softer than an S2K. It will have that same flavor, but not as spicy.

Yeah, the FT-86 will be addressed to a broader market. Let's not forget that the s2k barely found a market (in the U.S., at least). |
