In the 'Interests' section, what the hell is 'Racing/Arts'??? Weird combo that one is.

Fine print does say that we will get 100% confirmed pricing on June 12.

If Scion prices it out above $25k before all the extra BS, they lost my sale and lost the plot as they say.

I'll go get my deposit back and pickup a few years old RX8.

I'm looking to pickup a fun/good summer car and I wanna know the price in the next month or so, If they make me wait until june then they've already lost my sale.

I'm seriously getting tired of playing games with these noobs.

I'd like to think they're over estimating the MRSP in order to make people happy when it come in at less, but with the legalities around these types of contests I can't help but think they would be required to give an accurate estimate.

Looks like it's going to be a long wait until June when they finally confirm everything.

(herein referred as the "Contest Sponsor"), its parent and affiliated companies, representatives, dealers and agents, contest suppliers and those with whom they are domiciled ("Entrant(s)").

The Contest Period starts at 12:00:01 AM January 13, 2012 and closes at 11:59:59 PM on October 14, 2012 (the "Contest Closing Date"). All times are Eastern Daylight Saving Times. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST

There are 2 ways to enter the contest for a chance to win the Grand Prize. Only 1 entry per person is allowed regardless of method of entry. By entering the contest, you accept and agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules. Methods of entry are listed below.

I. You can enter using an ipad managed by Scion brand ambassadors at select Scion events and promotions across Canada throughout 2012.

II. Alternatively, you can enter online starting January 18, 2012 by visiting scion.ca/FR-S and completing the on-line entry form.

GRAND PRIZE:

GRAND PRIZE: Entrants are eligible to win one (1) Grand Prize (the "Grand Prize") consisting of one (1) 2012 Scion FR-S Sports Coupe (Anticipated Manufacturer's Approximate Suggested Retail Value (MSRP) is $30,000 (however the vehicle MSRP will not be finally determined until June 2012 at which time the confirmed MSRP will be released on www.scion.ca).

Sponsor is not responsible for any difference in the Anticipated MSRP and the final MSRP. Prize value includes freight and PDI (retail value is $1,490), and applicable taxes and fees.

Prize value does not include license, insurance, registration, levies and fees.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following general conditions apply to the Grand Prize:

(i) Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, assignable or convertible to cash (no substitutions, transfers or assignments except as permitted in Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion);

(ii) Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the Grand Prize or a component thereof for any reason with a prize or a prize component of equal or greater value;

(iii) manufacturer’s standard warranty applies to the Grand Prize;

(iv) upon notification from the Contest Sponsor, the declared Grand Prize winner will be required to personally take delivery of the Grand Prize from Scion dealership within Canada reasonably close to the Grand Prize winner’s place of residence in Canada as designated by Toyota Canada Inc., in its sole discretion, and present adequate personal identification;

(vi) declared Grand Prize winner is solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein including, without limitation, costs associated with obtaining a valid driver’s license, license plates, registration, insurance and/or fuel/gas; and

(vii) the Grand Prize will only be awarded to the eligible Entrant whose full name and valid e-mail address appears on the Entry Form.

BEFORE BEING DECLARED THE CONFIRMED GRAND PRIZE WINNER, the eligible Grand Prize winner must sign and return within five (5) business days of notification a declaration and release prepared by the Contest Sponsor, which, among other things:

(i) requires him/her to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without mechanical or other aid;

(ii) confirms compliance with these Rules;

(iii) acknowledges acceptance of the Grand Prize as awarded; and

(iv) agrees to release the Releasees from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from any liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Grand Prize or any portion thereof.

If the eligible Grand Prize winner:

(a) fails to correctly answer the mathematical skill-testing question; or

(b) fails to return the properly executed declaration and release documents within the specified time, then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the Grand Prize) and the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to randomly select another Entrant.

PRIZE DRAW: A random draw via the Contest server by a representative of the Contest Sponsor from all eligible entries received will be made at approximately 10:00am on October 19 2012. The first Entrant selected will be deemed the selected Entrant for the Grand Prize.
If the selected Entrant cannot be reached within five (5) business days following the first attempt of contact, Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to select another Entrant or to cancel the prize.

Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, redeemable, refundable or exchangeable for cash and not replaceable if lost/stolen.

By entering this Contest and/or accepting the Grand Prize, Entrants consent to the use of their entry, name, city of residence and/or voice, statements, any photographs or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes carried out by the Contest Sponsor and/or its advertising agencies in any medium or format without further notice or compensation.

The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

No communications will be entered into except with selected Entrants.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the Contest Sponsor. Contest Sponsor takes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other production errors.

Contest Sponsor is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsor and will not be returned.

Please see Contest Sponsor’s Privacy Policy at http://www.scion.ca/scion/privacy for information on its policy towards maintaining the privacy and security of user information.

By entering this Contest, Entrants release and hold harmless the Contest Sponsor, its advertising and promotional agencies and the Contest judge(s), their respective affiliates and respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the "Releasees") from any liability in connection with this Contest or, if declared a winner, the prize. The winner (a) releases Contest Sponsor, its respective affiliates and respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns from any and all liability resulting from any incident related to his/her participation in the Contest and acceptance of the Grand Prize.

This Contest will be run in accordance with these rules, subject to amendment by Contest Sponsor.

Entrants must comply with these rules, and will be deemed to have received and understood the rules by participating in this Contest.

The terms of this Contest, as set out in these rules, are not subject to amendment or counter-offer, except as set out herein.

If the identity of an Entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the Entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected Entrant may be required to provide proof of being the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).

The Contest Sponsor shall not be responsible for any failure of the website or any wireless network failure during the Contest or for any problems or technical malfunction of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail, on-line, or Internet entry to be received by the Contest Sponsor. In addition, the Contest Sponsor shall not be responsible due to technical problems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or wireless network, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer, or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at their sole discretion to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug, malfeasance or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.

Any litigation in Quebec respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties to reach a settlement. Any applicable decisions to be made by Contest Sponsor affecting the conduct of this Contest are subject to a ruling of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, the terms and conditions of these Rules shall prevail, govern and control.

vehicle MSRP will not be finally determined until June 2012?! That sort of supports rumours of no one getting one of these on the road until August..

a $30K value AFTER freight, PDI, and HST indicates an MSRP of below $25k. I believe the prize value would equate an 'on the road price' and presumably won't be BONE stock if its a contest prize.. if thats the case I'd be estimating a base price of maybe $23,900??

Hey guys, first post so go easy on me...

Would any of us really be surprised if it was in the 26-28k range? That's where both the Civic Si and Miata start at and the two of them are aimed at the same demographic and in many ways are similar cars. (I know the Si is FWD but it's pretty much comparable aside from that everywhere else.) I too am hoping the MSRP is under the $25k mark but what are the odds that it will be the best car on the road under $30k AND the cheapest compared to its competitors? I know there are a lot of factors to consider when it comes to the price (cost to build, demand, competition, etc.) but I wouldn't be shocked if they asked in the $26-28k range for this car. And to be honest, would it not still be worth it? It's not far off the specs of the 2001 Honda S2000 and that went for over $40k.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm seriously F'in excited to drive this car!)

Dealers say, Canada thinks it knows better has different safety standards like Day Time running lights and 5MPH bumpers, since it is always dark up north people can not see and bump each other in the dark. So the extra cost for these items.

This cars direct competitors are the Hyundai Genesis and the Mazda MX-5(Miata).

Scion in Canada is a weak brand, Yes their a sub company of Toyota but 95% of people dont know that, When I tell people about scion they think its like KIA or Hyundai(they dont know what it is and think its a cheap brand). If their looking to get some solid footing as a company, their going to have to come in at a competetive price.

My understanding of Scion is its supose to be cars priced for the younger generation. If their smart they also realize the younger generation who can afford to purchase a car (Say age 22+) are also entering the age where they will be looking to potentailly purchase a house, and maybe have school debt(Not everyone i know).

A price of no more then $24,000 - $25,000 before all the mumbo jumbo means They've secured my purchase, I've been an avid AE86 driver for years, I've been waiting on this car for years and would love to have it, BUT, anymore then $25,000 and I'll go with a used RX-8 and still have money to spare.

Guaranteed many, many people who are watching this car, are thinking along the same lines(There are cheaper and equally great alternatives). If Scion doesn't catch on to that, they've missed the point.

There was some legalese about if the final price comes in under $30K, that's all you get, they won't make up the difference. So the $30k final is probably a high-side guess.
