Hey guys. So I thought I'd share something here that I just learnt. Been reading up on the Onboard Diagnostics and found that you can get bluetooth adaptors which can stream the information on your car straight to an app on your phone.

have a look at http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/produc...ink/index.html

Then I rememered the Parrot is an Adroid based unit so it should be possible to install an app called, Torque, on it and have all kinds of additional dials and information visible on your radio's screen :-)

check the app out over here. http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Main_Page

What do you think?

That is one of the reasons why I'm patiently waiting for the Parrot. Parrot+ELM327+Torque=Awesomeness.

They make a very nice double din radio with app-link but nothing Android yet as far as I know. I doubt you'd miss having a Pioneer after playing with the Parrot though.

Despite my IT job I'm not the worlds greatest tech freak. I admired its simplicity - it worked and played mp3 cd's like a boss even after more than 5y ownership. Just found this adapter kit in another forum.

http://www.beatsonicusa.com/bh1.html

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...on/AVIC-X940BT - looks pretty - Android and iPhone compatible... Note none of them say Blackberry! ))

That is the exact same Pioneer I was talking about> Very very nice but I definitely want something running Android so you can run apps on it.

I'm currently using a Kenwood unit with the same type of adapter kit. It doesn't look stock but it's neat enough.

i think that parrot unit might be available in SA sometime this month too..
I was told by the official parrot importers it would be around 7K, but the rand hasn't really strengthened in the past month

edit: never mind, just checked the parrot site and it's not available on there yet, so unlikely to be available here...

Not sure, I have asked Parrot Intl directly and all they said was "before the end of the year".

The company that brought it in for me, delivered to my door within 4 days, loaded with the latest RSA maps.
deviceskins.dbn@gmail.com if anyone wants to deal directly, very reliable.
Only negative if I had to be sticky, the power on/off switch is on the left.

Thanks, it looks cool but I'm waiting for the Parrot because it's internet enabled and running Android.

Hi Guys,

Some more reviews on the Parrot. Also seriously considering this.

Any other units already installed/photos?

Getting my 86 First week of December so trying to keep my mind otherwise occupied by investigating mods and options.

The wait is killing me
