I'll definitely be hunting down a set of UEL headers but I definitely don't want to go cat-less. Totally don't want to deal with the drone again. Just need it to be a bit louder then now and a bit more of that rumble.

Borla makes great products. The price is just an extra layer of frosting on the cake.

not price dictated
How many exhausts does JDL make? sell? how about Borla make? sell? I dont see a expansion joint on the JDL I like that Borla has one. I also dig their million mile warranty jdl on left, borla right |

Great... but compare the collectors, the layout of the bends, and other details. The JDL looks way better. There is value in handmade parts.

My apologies, I was having issues w my phone... can't wait for CM10 so I have even more issues. Anyhow. If you didn't see it, here's the third. Also, it sounds much smoother. The previous videos were with a test pipe. This is the stock pieces. Probably not much in the name of value/HP but the sound... also msrp is like 780 or something online price is 650 so guessing that shipping will be 130 hahah. GB will probably be best bet to try and get them at like 650 shipped or something. Here's the link to them on the borla site. http://www.borla.com/products/produc...prod_sku=17284 Is jdl this guy? I will probably just save for an avo kit....1400$ for a good full exhaust and maybe 10 HP or 4500 for 100 with room to gain AND still have uel sound.... in terms of value... I'm too impatient though... |

If theres an expansion joint, and JDL is reasonable in price, its worth considering for sure. I have no need for bling, if it makes power, I keep. Hard for a small shop to compete normally, but we'll see-anyone know pricing on the JDL?
Now show me that the JDL makes a bunch more power for more money, tho thats not likely. Its will be more money, and not sure the extra cost will show on a dyno, or in longevity. It will look cooler indeed. You can bet a big boy Borla has sensible tho $pricey software for designing and prototyping that smaller shops simply cant afford, stuff like Flowmaster - Thermo Fluid Dynamics Software, Vectis Fluid Mechanics Software, and so what you end up with is really functional stuff, BORLA is the pioneer and leader in the design and manufacture of stainless steel performance exh. Company began three decades ago as a manufacturer of exhaust systems for such “concours classics” as Rolls-Royce and Ferrari cars and have evolved into the premier manufacturer of today's performance exhuasts for the street, off-road, and all types of competitive racing. To that end, their facility is complete with a state-of-the art test and development center Borla currently holds several US patents for innovative exhaust system technology, and the company has won numerous “Best New Product” awards in the industry. Gets harder and harder to compete with that, in my book. BORLA Header and Rear Section is made from austenitic stainless steel (superior to 409 or aluminized steel) it IS mandrel-bent tubing, all-welded construction, and is designed for accurate fit and easy installation. Over 30 years experience and special merge collector technology provide the ultimate in power and endurance. Indeed, for my money, and yes, cost is a factor to me, just try hard to not let it be the primary one, Borla is full of win in my book when I condsier header vendors. UEL or EL. Lets not look at JDL annual sales vs Borla, or how many cars HUNDREDS of systems Borla makes, I'm all for supporting the small guy, especially when he is in AZ, but picture this. I go to track. Lets make this fun, I go to track in Ohio, where my wife's family lives. I crack header while on a trip for a week of road racing events. WHo will have another sitting on a shelf overnighted no questions asked? Not all of you need to make decisions like me, I build what I build for a reason usually tho. When the one that arrives is damaged in the mail, borla will have another one sitting there behind it. I have had the boutique experience before guys. Borla is a $5M company last I checked. They will be here 8 years later when I crack the thing, really, is what I am counting on, despite whatever ruins our politicians run us thru as a nation in the next two coming elections. Borla will survive. Dont get me wrong the blued pipes and badge is way cool! Last edited by gmookher; 12-07-2012 at 11:21 AM. |
