That's a lot of hate coming from a guy with 6 posts. I wouldn't come in just crapping on the brand that designed our engine right off the bat, but that's just me.

The point about Toyota using a tricky turbo that was illegal is valid. Moreover, what subaru does, it does well. When I think of AWD cars, I think of Subaru. That's a big part of their brand recognition. It's also recognized as the ideal yuppie vehicle. They also get recognized as being safe and holding their value. Moreover, at the heart of what brand recognition is, given most any aspect of the car or logo and removing the name, a lot of people even outside of the sports car enthusiast crowd will recognize the brand. THAT is brand recognition.

You should not confuse brand recognition with performance accolades. The two, though not independent entirely, are very different.

Yes since Mazda has already figured out how to lower the hoodline with an inline 4 in the new Miata. That pop-up eject hood mechanism is just pure genius.

...There was a war?

The Genesis Coupe has been out for eight years, which is almost as long as the Honda S2000, which lasted for ten years. It also preceded the twins by four years. I'd say it was a good run.

Sadly, the new Gencoupe is probably going to be a fatty luxo-barge and even further away from the twins than ever.

It was never a canyon carver like an 86, more a sporty, cushy GT. Which, IMO, does exceedingly well for the price.

And still over-priced, under tech'd and unchanged in 9 years. Why I got rid of mine so quickly. Great bare bones sports car, and thats about it...

I didnt even know the 5 liter V8 wasnt an option for the Genesis sedan for 2016, just a detuned 3.8. They even have their Genesis site up: https://www.genesismotorsusa.com/

Yes and yes.

I will be watching to see what they do with this and it could well be a contender when time for me to trade in 2020.
No they are not like the 86 but they were never intended to be and who knows I just may want a little bit more luxury in my old age since what ever my next car is will have to take me into retirement.
