Well if you're serious, I'll comment. I recently installed Tein MonoSport coils on my 86. They are 16 way damping. When I set the front 10 clicks down from full stiff, and the rear 8 clicks down from full stiff, the ride felt almost exactly like the OEM ride. I imagine if I lowered the dampening even more, it would be more comfortable than stock.

I'm more confused about going through 8-12 thousand dollars worth of high quality very adjustable suspension products and settling on OEM springs and non-adjustable struts as the suspension of choice.

I will say that the wheels on that corvette fill the wheel well perfectly though.

Front sway bar is back on

The front sway bar is back on now, but the rear one is off, and I have my summer suspension on now. It's the HKS Hypermax GT IV, and comes with 6k springs in front and 4k springs in back with 3" helper spring. I started off trying the 4k springs in front with 3" helper, and 6k springs in back, no preload at all. Big mistake. Front bottoms out the bumpstop on every little pavement crease. Swapped them front to rear and it's even worse, now it donkey kicks over every pavement crease!

Swapped the springs over again, but this time I put the 4k springs in front with 1/2" preload, no helpers, and the 6k springs in back, with the 3" helpers, 2 1/2" preload. Wow, what a difference preload makes! I also dropped it 1 1/2" and added 1 degree of camber before getting an alignment. Here's a pic of the result.

put some air in those tires.
4k is a pretty soft rate for that height.
get some 16" wheels and nice big tires to match, that should help with the ride.

What are you alignment specs?

Depends on the phase of the moon and what colour socks he is wearing that day.

He changes his suspension setup so often that it's comical.

My alignment specs are 0 Toe front, .5 Toe each side rear, 1.0 Camber each side front, 1.2 Camber left rear, and 1.4 Camber right rear.

I agree the 4k springs in front are too soft, but they were meant for the rear, and since I carry PC's and parts in the trunk I need the 6k springs in back. I'm looking at 5k springs for the front, and leaving the rear sway bar off for now. It effectively adds to the strength of the rear springs, and would over-balance the front suspension if I put it back on now.

Oh god, you're like me with even more spare time. Can't leave anything alone haha.

You're sure it's actually bottoming out? 4k is hardly soft in the grand scheme of things, I wonder if you're feeling a different effect such as mismatched helper spring? Unless the coilovers have like no travel, which is always possible...

You are just living in the wrong country. In Japan the Area 86 sells 4 different kind OEM antisway bar to change the ride quality according to the customers need.

With no preload there is almost no shock travel left before hitting the bumpstops. Spring pressure, strength or preload gives shock travel, and the adjustable mounts give height. Sway bars add to the spring strength of the struts. My front springs are too soft, so I am using the front sway bar to help stiffen them up. The rear springs are firmer, so I've removed the rear sway bar. I'll probably increase the front preload and decrease the rear to help balance the difference between the two.

Free speech is your right, but I'm actually interested in getting the best ride for the least money. I have a hydraulic coil spring compressor, so it makes changing springs much quicker than with the hook style threaded compressors. I've had all my struts out and springs changed 4 times in the last 3 days. I'm seriously wearing the threads off my wheels studs though. It wasn't till last night that I got my suspension to give a halfway decent ride.

Suspension isn't the only thing I've changed recently. Just this morning I discovered how the AVCS tables need to be adjusted to compensate for the lowered back-pressure of a free-flowing exhaust. I tried reducing the valve overlap previously, but that made it worse, so this morning I increased the overlap and behold, more power, and better mileage. So this week has been a two-fer for me, better suspension, and a better running engine.
